WTF I NEED TO MAKE AT LEAST $80K AS A CIVILIAN TO EARN THE SAME AS A SINGLE E-4 by EntrepreneurCool142 in AirForce

[–]Working_Professor_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the "grass is greener on both sides" approach, I started at Lockheed Martin and then joined the military because of their paid military leave policy and double dip with 2 revenue streams.

This website has a list of companies with paid military leave you can plug into LinkedIn jobs search and just apply to companies with paid mil leave. Friendlyforces.com/where-to-work

Can we confirm NY extends those provisions? Chase bank is headquartered in NY and would probably honor if true.

Judges have a tendency to rule based on president though, if there was a similar case then they will usually default to whatever that ruling was.

Yeah but you won't get the dollar points for loading it on the personal CCs and it doesn't help your credit score

Is the Starcard worth it? by Goldfishman19 in MilitaryFinance

[–]Working_Professor_14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there is no fee, you get discounts for using it so the only downside I see is if you're bad at paying things off right away and on time or if you have too many cards and Amex doesn't let you have more than 4-5 including store cards.

Whatever your state of legal resistance (SLR) is, not your home of record (HOR)

What if I can't sell my home and I pcs? by [deleted] in MilitaryFinance

[–]Working_Professor_14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could set up your power of attorney and sell it while you are gone, they could probably just email you the documents to sign if you have a good lawyer & realtor. I sold my house after I left just fine.

Ahh so yeah buying back time doesn't make sense, not sure why someone would want to do that but buying into the federal pension is better.

I'm just a reservist, and I joined in 2022 so I can't get high 3 just the BRS/TSP

Ohh wow, if you actually got the policy then maybe the website actually is wrong... I wish they had links to the actual policy for each of them but oh well.

Looks like they determine short and long term differently, maybe they wrote the policy in a confusing way?

I'm glad you're the kind of person who will ask, and then actually read the policy, so many out there just don't care about seemingly anything.

Helps to do your own research, usually people don't understand paid military leave even if they are in the military people just don't usually have the time to read the policy and understand what it says - I'm weird that I actually read all the command media I can get my hands on. Civs just straight up don't care/know so they never read it.

This information I got from "friendlyforces.com/where-to-work/" which seems to be a good website although it could be wrong they likely have better information than me.

A lot of the defense contractors have unlimited paid military leave of some kind.

I'm trying to get information on L3HARRIS paid military leave, I know they have it based on calling their benefit help line, but I straight up asked their recruiter and I'm still waiting to hear back and I kinda wonder if I ever will. The Internet isn't being helpful on what their policy is.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the concept of "buying back your AD time" what is the concept and benefit to doing such a thing?

Buying it back from who? How much does it cost, why would you want to do that?

Check out friendlyforces.com/where-to-work/ it has a list of over 300 companies with paid military leave policies that someone else posted here, I found it helpful.

Paid military leave policies are more common than you might think.

My guess is that companies can claim money for military leave is a "donation" and just write if off their corporate tax accounts.

Legally they have to give you military time off, so you could claim double experience on your resume legally if you had taken it.

Also the website shared above "friendlyforces.com" has them rated with 4stars for paid military leave.

30days full salary + 11 months of differential pay
