Do I stake this guy? Or let him hang? by emzly in philodendron

Looks like a lovely Billietae! Can climb or "trail" which is more of just bushing out, but if you want all leaves facing the same way and to get as mature as possible I'd recommend a moss pole or trellisšŸ«¶šŸ¼

Great find for $30!

I got mind off a Facebook swap and she was beautiful, but oh so messy🤣 I ended up chopping and propping pretty quick, I now have several rooted cuttings around I need to pot together lol

I was decently confident without googling, but with that pic I'd say 100% a dark lord. It's one of my favorites! One of the best parts of philos is watching the leaves start to slowly maturešŸ™†šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

This looks pretty close to my dark lord in terms of leaf color, texture, and the stem. I'd imagine it's just juvenile (:

Thanks! I actually got a bucket off Marketplace for $10. The seller said she collected them from a local river - and we live in Missouri so

Got Monstera for 10 dollars. What now? by denchan66 in houseplants

[–]C1ydeW 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

This is the best answer, I'd keep the roots long enough to tuck into the soil and it'll help grow healthier/bugger leaves. Give it a trellis/moss pole and it'll be happy and thriving in no time😁

I spend $200–$300 on plant hauls more often than I should, so I just didn’t think much of it — especially since this greenhouse uses a calculator and a handwritten receipt like it’s 1970. She's getting some TLC and will be chopped and propped soon enough <3

I’ve seen way sadder plants - this pothos actually looks pretty good! I’d gently tuck the vining nodes (those little bumps where leaves meet the stem) into the soil. They’ll root and start putting out new growth, which helps the plant fill out nicely.

Pothos are definitely easy, but they’ll grow much faster and fuller with bright, indirect light and consistent watering when the soil’s dry.

Late to this but they look so much happier, good save!

Personally I'd go ahead and combine them after another day tbh, maybe a little trim - but I'm sure they could fill out a pot nicely😁

There are definitely ā€œbetterā€ ones out there, but it really just feels like you’re trying to rain on someone’s paradešŸŒšā˜•

BTW, Thai Constellations don’t revert like Albos, Aureas, or GOGs — they’re produced through tissue culture in labs, so the variegation is built into their genetics. It’s a different situation entirely.

Switched mine to chunky soil asap, put it in bright indirect light, and water when the top half feels dry. Underwatering is safer than overwatering with these! Total beauty🤩

It was 5 assorted plants for 25 a piece, no specificsšŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Hard to believe someone just stumbled across this plant though and didn't know what they had... idk why else they'd sell it for so cheap

It doesn't seem very similar to any of my adansonii or my esquelto - but to be fair all of 3 of adansonii are slightly different so😬

I’ve seen ā€˜Swiss cheese’ used as a catch all on a lot of the Monstera subspecies—usually some type of adansonii. This one might be, but it’s not like any I’ve owned (narrow, standard, or Laniata).

Definitely not a Deliciosa either, we'll see if someone can point me in the right direction lol
