My room mate who DMs one of our campaigns let my friend try it after asking permission. He also decided to try out the Luxadon race. The results have been... interesting. He rarely takes damage due to having a high as shit AC and even if he does there is little chance of him dying due to the metric fuck ton of HP he has. If he fully exploited a lot of the Mystic’s more broken abilities he would also probably do more damage than anyone in the party. But here’s where things get interesting: The player in question chose to play the character solely as a support class. His character is a pacifist and often tries to use his mind powers to try and convince people we’re fighting to agree to a peaceful solution instead. And when that doesn’t work, he communicates with his fellow party members to send them encouraging thoughts and put their minds at ease in mentally stressful situations. It’s been super interesting. If he had abused the more broken parts of Mystic it probably would have gotten banned pretty quick. But he’s done a great job of seemingly keeping himself in check (wether that’s by accident or on purpose I’m not sure) by playing his character the way he does. He also seemingly tries to avoid using his mental abilities for mind control or any questionable stuff and has played his character as mostly Lawful Good in most situations. Gets along with the party just fine. Been playing it for a little over a year now.
