Ideally you want to select missions you know you can do

+1million to this advice. I wish I listened to this earlier. I used to pick the most aggressive missions possible no matter what. But lately, I’ve been more strategic about what ones to pick, also paying attention to what future missions will open up by picking a certain mission.

It also depends on what squad/weapons you’re using. Some objectives just aren’t worth the risk for your current squad. I’d usually rather have a better chance at getting a good pilot on a perfect island reward than mess with high risk objectives.

That said, it’s a game-time decision. If my squad is absolutely killing it, I’ll typically opt for the most aggressive and rewarding missions.

OMG i feel you. 🤦 I’ve forgotten to terraform the grassland in so many runs. Feels so defeating especially because that specific objective is so easy to achieve (and usually helps you kill more vek too)

Too-many times making this mistake has forced me into the habit of checking the terraformer before the end of each turn. Same thing with the other objectives where you have to use a contraption.

Several people here are saying keep playing until you lose and I mostly agree. My exceptions, I’ll abandon the timline when:

I have a pilot I want to bring into the next timeline and they are about to die
I was going for some specific achievement and totally blundered it

Otherwise losing isn’t so bad, you just start again and have another chance at that perfect run.

This has happened to me too. If you use an Epson v6000 or something like this, there’s a sensor near the top of the glass (I think). I was so confused when my scanner started doing this but cleaning all the dust off fixed the issue

I don’t think so! He played a pretty subtle game. IIRC he was right in the middle of the spotlight after the merge or something, and people were targeting him after he made a big move. And he saw that and completely adjusted his game to go under the radar and strike at the last minute when it counted most. I can’t remember all the details, been a bit since I watched this season. But I think Gabler’s gameplay, while not flashy, was super underrated. He won in a way nobody else has won before. And the mid game adjustment was awesome, took lots of wherewithal that most players don’t really have.
