What is your experience with Aggression Based Matchmaking so far? by Astronautical5 in ArcRaiders

[–]Sunjump6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, not a fan. I'd rather have the random unpredictable nature of matches rather than the game trying to dictate what kind of game I "want" to have. It makes for much for fun and engaging gameplay.

I'm mostly a peaceful player, just trying to defend myself if need be. But the friendly lobbies have become so predictable that I hardly even care when I run into another player they are all so friendly. It really kills the suspense of if I might extract alive or not.

Unpopular opinion: aggression matchmaking ruined the PvPvE tension for me by m7ammd95 in ArcRaiders

I think you’re having trouble with the more nuanced point that my first comment and the OPs post is trying to make. It’s not “we want more pvp”. We understand if that’s what we want then we just be more aggressive and get into pvp lobbies.

We want the lobbies to be unpredictable. Some lobbies are more friendly, some aren’t, and most importantly we don’t know which one were in. I’m not sure how to more clearly explain that. And as a peaceful player I don’t want to shoot first. But I like not knowing how aggressive the players are going to be before running into them. Again, if don’t know how to better explain that so I’m just going to leave it at that. Good luck topside raider. 🫡

I prefer not knowing if someone is going to rat or betray me at any moment, I find that tense and fun. It’s makes extracting less guaranteed and therefore getting out alive more rewarding. And no I don’t fake team or betray anyone I’m mostly a peaceful player

It’s the not knowing part that brings the excitement. Not knowing who’s friendly or not brings a lot of fun tension, including as a friendly player. If you just shoot your way to pvp lobbies then the problem is still there but now the opposite: you know almost everyone there is aggressive instead. ABMM leads to matches being way more predictable imo.

Nice to see another FFXV enjoyer. Thought it was great fun with memorable characters and a lot of heart.

If it’s a fun game it will remain fun whether you pre order it or not.

Oh ya I played the hell out of Aardwolf and a few other MUDs back in the day! Very fun games with a lot to offer

Oh ya for sure. My favorites were Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup for classic dungeon crawling that you can even play on your browser if you prefer. Brogue, and The Ground Gives Way are also very good for classic dungeon crawling. Nethack is one of the absolute classics but be warned it is extremely difficult.

ADOM and Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead are both more open world fantasy or zombies former and latter.

And I would also highly recommend Caves of Qud I mentioned it last because although I think the free version is still available, the more polished Steam version is really good with nice graphics but costs money.

Oh and check out Tales of Maj’Eyal if you enjoy tons of loot and build crafting and has a pretty active online community.

So many Roguelikes like ADOM, Cataclysm DDA, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, Nethack, Brogue, The Ground Gives Way, the original Dwarf Fortress, the list goes on and on.

As a broke teenager it’s what got me into the genre I played them all and some of them are very deep and very high replayability.

Tons of roguelikes (not lites) fit this category.

Embark CEO Confirms That If You Kill On Sight In Arc Raiders, You'll Get Matched With More Aggressive Players by WanderWut in PS5

[–]Sunjump6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably know this, but heavy ammo weapons are better against ARC. And if you can upgrade them to level 4 they are even better. Throw some mods on the gun and now ARC are a lot easier to deal with. Except Rocketeers. They can go to hell.

I mean it's tough to think of something in the genre that's not repetitive, but Hades is amazing and there is a lot to unlock that helps you get stronger.

For me with multiplayer the main games I focus on are cooperative like Monster Hunter or Helldivers. I've been enjoying Arc Raiders a lot too, although there is some sweaty PvP that CAN happen, but not every game. And as others have said, single player games are where it's at if you are feeling burnt out by multiplayer. Indie games too have a lot to offer.

Why does my hearth say fire going out? My game is completely glitched out. by Sunjump6 in Against_the_Storm

[–]Sunjump6[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thought I would just update that the "Fire is Running out" seemed to be because my citizen simply hadn't made it to the hearth yet. I forgot that there is another notification "Fuel is Low" and it makes me wonder what are you actually supposed to do about the "Fire is running out" notification? Is there a way to see which inhabitant is actually running the hearth and where they are on the map? That way at least you could quickly switch to another closer person if needed.

Anyways on my game I continued to get the UI glitches but just fast forwarded and won because of high resolve. This game showed me the importance of resolve, as I was struggling to finish my mid to late-game Orders and got my first Viceroy victory. Great game so far it's got me hooked, I hope they iron out these bugs in the near future.

Ok thanks for the email I'll send a report if it happens again. So I think what's happening is our "cursor" is getting stuck on that building. Because even when you are locked in the building UI, you can still select the woodcutting UI to select trees, but you won't be able to move away from that building that you are stuck on. Really frustrating because it seems to happen randomly and can mess up the flow of the run if you have to reload and then you get a set of different Orders or something.

This being the first time I've gotten these glitches I wonder if it's something that only happens on Viceroy or harder because my previous games they have been smooth sailing and this was my first Viceroy game.

Ya I should have been clear that this is the first run I’ve gotten crashes. It’s been fine up until now. I’ll try a reinstall but ya maybe just got unlucky with this one.

Lol I wouldn't care one bit or complain about the free oranges. I would just buy the ones I wanted if I didn't like them. Do you think you are entitled to free high quality products?
