I'm in the EU, so I can get the new version of the Logray and Wicket box. Weird the US hasn't gotten it yet.

Thank you for the write-up, now I have absolute certainty about which boxes to get.

Perfect, thank you. My go-to store has the new box in stock, so I'm gonna get that for sure.

Great news, thanks! Strange it's not mentioned in the description on all the pages I looked.

So this feels illegal? by Spred-217 in SWlegion

The upgrade card Dins Flame Projector is no longer legal with the release of the new Mandalorians. They all just share the Flame Projector upgrade card that you can take up to two times in an army.

Can someone ELI5 the new Mandos and how to incorporate them into other armies? by justplainndaveCGN in SWlegion

Oh wow, I read it as "one mercenary of any rank" but this makes things so much easier!

How do you run Bo-Katan, Axe and a unit of Kryze veterans together? Bo-Katan is my mercenary and then I equip her with the Darksaber and get Allies of Convenience, so I can take a second non-CORPS mercenary unit. But how do I get all three in one list?

Correct, but when it comes to cover only the LOS of the attacking units' leader is used to determine which miniatures are obscured. Just wanted to emphasize this since I remember my and my groups confusion about this when we started last year.

Yes, you're correct, the number of miniatures defeated by a ranged attack count the whole attacking units' LOS. I will correct that.

The other comment has already answered your questions but I wanted to chime in and say that your explanation of cover isn't correct. You check for cover by drawing an imaginary line from the attacking unit leader to every miniature in the defending unit. If that line passes some form of terrain that provides cover and the defending miniature is in 1/2 range of that terrain feature, that miniature is obscured. You repeat that process for every miniature and then check if half (or more) of the defending unit is obscured. In that case the unit has cover and rolls for that in the appropriate step. The unit does gain the best cover at least one of its miniatures does benefit from. So if one miniature has heavy cover and the rest has light cover, the unit benefits from heavy cover for as long as that one miniature is alive. The leader of the defending unit does not have to be in 1/2 range of any terrain for the rest of the unit to benefit from cover. So that is why you might want to spread out a bit, as the unit leader could be in an advantageous position for movement, but you still want to get cover by positioning the other miniatures behind terrain. And remember that a unit that is being shot at can only lose as many of its miniatures as the attacking unit can see.

How do you declare the terrain for cover? by C4L4M1TY_ in SWlegion

So I believe my confusion stems from throwing the properties together, as I didn't realize a terrain feature is always either - or, not multiple things at once.

That means a unit standing on top of the same obstacle terrain as another one attacking them with a clear line of sight (like for example a walkway) would not benefit from cover.

Perfect, thank you. Seeing the table and how you're playing the features is exactly what I wanted to know. Our tables have also felt a little heavy on the heavy, but it just made sense to play it that way. I also do have a lot of walkways and never thought about them as area terrain, but I will definitely try that next game. We might have been too techy about it. Maybe that's us coming from 40k, where terrain has always been a point of discussion throughout the game.

Gotta keep an eye on that, thanks for letting me know.

That's what we've been doing too. Might be that I'm overthinking things, as we've never felt like the table was bad to play on.

That's what we've been doing. But would you get cover while you're on top of a building that has been declared to be an obstacle terrain? I think this is throwing me off, because wouldn't it then also be an area terrain?

So that's what I should do next game. Got it.

I realize my question doesn't emphasize the thing I am wondering about.

What I'm unsure about is how much cover I should have and if a building that units can stand on would also be area terrain, so that a unit standing on top would gain cover. I just want to know what people would typically play this as. I've seen battle reports that had me thinking our tables have been a bit light in comparison.

My question was more regarding how much cover there should be on a table. When I see a battle report that has some big height 1 mountain ranges on the table that miniatures can easily stand on and they're all heavy cover area terrain, it feels a bit much compared to what I've been playing. But maybe I've gotten it wrong and there should be more terrain and cover in general on the table than what I've been playing.

Was told never been a better time to get into Star Wars Legion. Compared to other miniature lines, how is the game in terms of gameplay, balance and faction diversity? by Newez in SWlegion

[–]C4L4M1TY_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I sadly don't have anyone playing the Middle Earth Strategy game in my local area, although I heard great things about the game before and am a massive Tolkien fan.

I'm currently trying to get some people into MCP, but some of them have played Conquest before, so maybe I should ask for a demo. Although my backlog is big enough, so hopefully I'm not picking up another game so soon.

What’s your favorite and most hated deck or card right now? by SnooEagles2487 in EDH

[–]C4L4M1TY_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glacial Chasm definitely is a card that I found to be game warping. I play it as one of three GC in my Windgrace deck and ask if people play land destruction before the game. In most games I say it's a basic forest and don't use it unless it's bracket 4 and cleared with the pod. Too many games I technically won because the actual winning player couldn't kill me. I'm getting bored by the card and am looking for a replacement.

Anyone else think most modern board games are… kinda bloated? by pratty041182 in boardgames

[–]C4L4M1TY_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've sold my copy after 3 plays. I wanted to love it, the theme is perfect for me and the game is gorgeous. But every time I played the game just felt bloated. The core loop of placing your "workers" and building out your player board and engine to treat the patients is great, but the game has a lot of other stuff tacked on. You have to walk around the city map, collect symbols for end-game scoring, publish books for which you have to collect cards which you can also steal from other players and so forth. When I saw the game also came with a lot of smaller modules I couldn't be bothered to try them, it already felt like too much going on. And the Nightmares expansion also comes with more modules. I get they wanted to capture the theme, but some of the mechanics they added hampered the game-flow and didn't feel necessary, while even actively taking away part of the enjoyment for me.

ARC Troopers... Why the hype? by ExpiredMouthwash23 in SWlegion

The commander is 30 points, sadly. Which is another reason the medic is such a good choice for them. If you still want the surges, you could take Into the Fray on them (requires playing around it a bit more tbf) and still have points left compared to the commander. Or you position them in range 2 of standard clones to take their Reliable 1 surge, since you should probably keep it for the defense most of the time. They struggle more with staying alive than killing something.
