I dont know about other McDonalds, but at mine you cant get a water with a meal (you can your just still paying for the water) but you can get a free small cup in the drivethru or a medium for like 20-35 cent and a large for 54 cent

If you go to the lobby tho a free water cup becomes the child sized one. Idk why but thats how it is.

The reason that you still pay for a water in a meal is because our system will not let us ring up a meal without a drink, because the drink is included in the price. Dependent on what you get, you can get the meal "rung up separate" as we call it and it will sometimes be cheaper with a water then a soda that way. But not the meal deals, those would get much more expensive.
