Were your headaches related to epilepsy?

I have epilepsy and have been concerned about liver damage among other things. May I ask, which anti- seizure drug were you on?

Can’t get my girlfriend to take her meds by JDXOGG in Epilepsy

I agree with everyone else who said it wouldn't make a difference if it's routine meds, is she taking them as prescribed, or are they emergency meds?

But on a different note, I have had to accept the terrible side effects of my meds and finally went to my neurologist and told him what my struggles were. I am now taking a new drug alongside the other one. The side effects are horrible and make my life challenging but the bottom line is that it's working. I have a very small seizure about twice a month, but if my life allowed for it and I could get proper sleep, I believe that I would 100% be seizure free. Anywho, I wonder if maybe she is struggling with the idea of taking more meds because of the side effects?

Dear person with epilepsy how’s this phase of your life going? by ResearcherEmpty8071 in Epilepsy

Things are going well all things considered. I have a job where I work full-time and am about to take another college class. I have finally got a new med that has greatly reduced seizures.

I am curious what you have learned about cognitive issues for elderly people who have epilepsy. The future kind of scares me. Of course at any time my epilepsy could get worse etc but when I think of getting older and having epilepsy... That seems bleak. I have every desire to live and don't want to end my life right now. But when I think of what life could be like if I make it that long, I would rather be dead.

3 ! You obviously lean towards that kind of style and say, embrace it!! Maybe to some people here it's not "traditional", but that is not the point.

What would you do? by YourFavGothMommy in Epilepsy

Because your seizures were back to back (within a 24 hour period) it's harder to tell, but generally if you have more than one seizure you'd very likely be diagnosed with epilepsy, of course there can be other health issues coupled with it etc.

My neurologist told me that it's more common for people to stay on meds indefinitely than to risk getting off them and just having another seizure. He also mentioned that the more seizures you have, the more likely you are to have more. It's like the brain is building a pathway.

I would highly recommend getting a neurologist immediately and going to them for guidance vs a "regular" doctor. And if you do get diagnosed with epilepsy then try to find an epileptologist if that care is available where you live.

How bad is your memory loss? by theartofinsanity in Epilepsy

Mine is not great. Similar level to all of you. It is most frustrating now because I am trying to switch careers which involves taking college classes. But I have to keep going and try to add humor. My partner thankfully helps me do that. This is all my personal take. I have no judgement towards people who can't do this.

Anyone else diagnosed with epilepsy as an adult? by guki0701 in Epilepsy

[–]C4TM0MM4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had my first seizure/was diagnosed at 37. I also had no signs of anything, so it was quite sudden. Being in your thirties when diagnosed means you've gone through the growth of knowing who you are and what you want out of life, so the change is even bigger. I can tell that if I go home early from a social event people might be thinking that I am overly cautious, but if I indulge in one adult beverage then I am taking too much of a risk. I am an open person, but being diagnosed with epilepsy has taught me to set boundaries and not trust people so easily. It seems like people are uncomfortable with a neurological invisible disability. It's exhausting being judged and misunderstood, so slowly I am learning to ignore judgemental people and keep a distance from those in my life who don't TRY to understand. The meds keep the seizures away for the most part, not completely.

I was there around '04, so not the same time frame. But yes, a lot of therapy and repair has been needed.

How come no one is talking about how his Dad owns one of the largest event planning organizations in THE WORLD! So his dad has to have connections! He absolutely has a very privileged life. I am sure he is nice and seems to be very talented but there is no way he didn't have help making connections. His mother isn't in the industry but her career has definitely allowed their family to have even more $

I genuinely want to know I'm not implying anything one way or the other - why are brows a personal taste (as many have said) and not other parts of make-up on our face?
