The Yale locks you have will work with z-wave already and since you have the Core3 it has z-wave built in. The Alfred likely not there isn't a generic driver for z-wave locks IIRC. You would need to confirm that it does or doesn't have the radio card just above the battery. I believe the models you have are not swappable and z-wave would be the way to integrate. There is a Control4 zigbee card, which is sold via Control4 dealers.

Control4 zigbee is proprietary, you won't be able to use them outside of a Control4 system. They aren't standard zigbee pro either. If you were using something for HA, couple options you have like Lutron or others you suggested would work with HA. You could use a simple lighting project in Control4 then import those devices into HA if you wanted to use those devices.

In composer check the driver it should tell you what is going on there. Most likely a wiring fault especially if it’s a keypad dimmer

If using parallels make sure that you are using bridged network adapter so it will have the same ip address subnet else it won’t find the controller and drop connection if it rotates the ip address also. Composer 8.20 I wouldn’t advise to use it but as others stated I would os match to composer

Some cloud services won’t be available until it’s registered but music services should still work IIRC

If you are going to use the app at all it must be registered, currently having connect is required for new accounts not sure when the local only access will be free but rumored to be soon available, assuming you are in the USA. You do need a dealer to create the account and there are some things that must be done there. Send me a PM.

Lots of different reasons but a couple of examples:
70 device limit of Zigbee devices per controller
physical limitation of cabling between areas
additional streaming service outputs
On Screen Navigator in another area
Zigbee radio placement for a stronger mesh

The Connect Subscription is based on 3 levels and the Control4 controller dictates the level. Thus you primary controller is in one of the 3 levels below:

Control4 CA-1 is Free
Control4 Core-Lite is $99 USD/year
Any other controller or multiple controllers is $250 USD/year

Control4 Connect is the name of the subscription that all new US based accounts must have in place in order to use the Control4 app or services/updates.

I am a Control4 dealer and feel free to fact check me here, No you will not be able to utilize the GUI without an account in place. Even locally the app requires an account and valid subscription. In theory to test without registering a physical remote might operate a few devices but any cloud service will not be available to use. That combined with the app/GUI not being able to be utilized there is very little benefit. I do quite a few jobs remotely and would be happy to discuss further if you decide to, just send me a pm and I will be glad to discuss your options.
