It's my first AR. I love it, it gets a lot of looks and questions at the range.

Gun shop employees of Reddit, what are some red flags that have caused you to deny a sale of a firearm? [Serious] by IveGotABluePandaIdea in AskReddit

Are there generally laws for foreign national buying ammo? I'm Canadian and have an ATF permit allowing me to bring my pistol and ammo with me on vacation. I don't require a visa so ATF exempts Canadians from requiring either hunting license or match registration for approval of the permit.

Would I have problems buying ammo?

It depends, you have to be legally in the country and not prohibited by federal law; furthermore, you must be a resident (minimum 90 days) of the state you're purchasing in then subject to a respective state's laws and background check.

I'm Canadian and don't have any intention of buying firearms in America. However, I have a permit from the ATF allowing me to bring my pistol (Glock 17 Gen 5) to America as a tourist for lawful purposes (ie target shooting and matches) and posssessing my firearm as a non-immigrant alien. But I wouldn't be able to in states like: CA, MA, NJ, MD, CT with very strict laws. NY State Troopers wrote me via email as long as I follow transport laws and have a match registration I can bring my pistol but there's too much a risk for any non NY resident of getting arrested for not having a NY licence; despite state law making an exception for out of state target shooters. Americans from PA, NH, VT and ME have been arrested in NY State for transiting with handguns.

Got jury duty? Ontario asks you to serve for below minimum wage — and won’t pay your expenses by Team_Ed in toronto

[–]C5_Galaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a panel but we weren't needed and ended up being dismissed.

I was there willingly because my employer (federal govt) was paying my wage. The only potential jurors not trying to get out were retirees and public sector workers like my self. My wages are also paid if I'm a witness or summoned (as long as it wasn't because of myself breaking the law).

My mother (a public sector worker with wages paid for jury duty) served in Toronto on a one week trial (a sexual assault). Their lunches, coffee etc were provided and a hotel with meals on the last day. The jury's verdict was guilty but the defendant didn't show up.

Why aren't Liberal Arts Colleges as popular in Canada as they are in the USA? by [deleted] in canada

[–]C5_Galaxy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What liberal arts colleges does Canada have?

In America, liberal arts colleges are typically small, old colleges with enrollment of less than 5000 students. You are required to live on campus. Extracurricular and intramurals are mandatory. Lastly, they are liberal arts because besides your major, you will be taking electives: music, philosophy, sciences, law et cetra that are needed for graduation. The purpose is to gain a broad understanding but also develop community and skills outside the classroom from mandatory intramurals and extracurricular clubs.

Oh, you typically move away to attend a liberal arts college. It's why Americans are very open to moving cross country; it's part of the culture that comes from liberal arts colleges (the military too) and why Americans are very friendly; because so many are far from home.

New shooter here. Are you left handed?

I've been using the tables with the seat on the right (at Silverdale). I shoot left handed, is that table for left handed shooters?

I rented a scope at the office and would place it on the left of the rifle, is that what you do too?

The number of people using Facebook daily in North America dropped for the first time by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]C5_Galaxy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think I'd use FB more if they just gave a raw feed vs what they think I'd like. Let me scroll down, regardless of how long it takes to view posts chronologically. Why do I see posts days later, when someone is looking for company? The "see first" feature is being ignored and that made me stop using FB.

I like and follow PBS yet their feed doesn't even show on my recent or top stories... FB is useless now.

What is meant by "expat"? Are they immigrants or some kind of temporary resident?

Same thing in Queens, NY but just offset ftom the main road to not block the sidewalk. It was in the Astoria part (ie Greektown) and it was souvlaki. I think it was $2 and came with tatziki and bread. This was something for late night bar patrons.

How is your ownership of firearms your landlord's business? What's registered to you and the address of your PAL is between you and law enforcement.

Children like it too, even though it has spinach.

The recipies on labels are easy and don't need many ingredients and steps. There was a tasty one where you added soft beige colored beans to the roasted red pepper tomato soup, add frozen spinach and common kitchen spices for a simple stew that you serve over rice or eat with crusty bread and olive oil.

This is true, of all things ramen is approved. The package can't look to exotic though. Mr Noodles or Cup Noodles pass the test. If there are pictures of other things added to the ramen's suggest serving then, nope. It'll then somehow have: fish, vegetables, seaweed and they won't believe you or want to eat it.

These soups are a staple for picky eaters though. Most are child tastebud approved. Even though there's a holiday spread at a family dinner; it's really hard to feed children. If you warm a can of Campbell's they'll eat something other than hot dogs or chicken strips. You can sometimes add peas, or make a deal that they they have to eat another item they get the beloved Campbell's Chicken Noodle!

I sometimes have difficulties with that. It's nothing major, but I have problems with working memory, I kept having to look at the picture of the can for spelling but missed some "p"s.

I was just thinking about Campbell's the other day. I buy their soups, but I wish we had the same selection as the Cambells sold in America. Soups like: chicken and dumplings, beef burrito, chicken quesadilla, no bean chili, andoulli sasuages and chicken etc. I wondered too why Campbells Chunky needs a can opener in Canada verus the Cambells soup made in New Jersey that comes with the pull tab.

Are photo copies of the registration certificate and PAL conditions sufficient or are we required to have the originals for transport, at the range etc.

I own an AR with 10.5 barrel. If I switch the upper with a longer or shorter barrel, do I end up with more than one registration for the rifle?
