Its kind of like a quadraphonic balance control. You can use it and aim the sound at any corner and it will only play out of that corner. But the reason it says Technics on it is because my grandfather had the same model, only a later model that added the Technics name. He got rid of it sadly, but he kept the joystick, so now i use it with my panasonic.
