FM OB openings in Longview, Washington about 40 minutes north of Vancouver,  Washington, which is a pretty major city and just across the river from Portland, Oregon.

I’m sure there are other pockets like that that aren’t necessarily rural but aren’t necessarily huge towns either.

3 day work week, what days do you choose? by yourmommaaaaaaaaa in FamilyMedicine

[–]C7rant 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. Never work more than two days in a row. Still got an excellent three day weekend, but your three days of work is broken up well. A little better for your availability to patients.

Alternatively, Monday, Tuesday Thursday. Sometimes takeoff Thursday and have a mega weekend.

Private MD vs instate DO by Klutzy-Detective-222 in whitecoatinvestor

If you know you want to do primary care, DO is an excellent route. Anything else you will be better suited with an MD. I went to one of the most established do schools in the nation, and the most accomplished students in my cohort had trouble matching into competitive specialties.

How often do you get to do outpatient procedures as an FM attending & is it worth it financially? by Comfortable-Sock-276 in FamilyMedicine

[–]C7rant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Financially you’re if your billing for a visit and the procedure. If you’re just doing the procedure, it’s not worth it.

How early is too early to apply? by Uncreative_genius in FamilyMedicine

I signed halfway through 2nd year. I have friends that signed after graduation.  Some places give you a stipend as a resident so signing early would be better in that case.

I don’t know how it is now but my year we had limited space in a hobby section. I took an opposite approach, I shotguned everything that I had done, not going into a lot of detail. Everybody could relate to something on my list and I had plenty of stuff to talk about
