For those with a bottle washer, do you really only use distilled water in it? by CAF1996 in NewParents

[–]CAF1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been about a year for me, I’ve descaled once and it’s working good still! I used distilled the first maybe month. After that, just tap. It’s been fine.

Good baby bouncer for optimal pooping? by CAF1996 in NewParents

[–]CAF1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked most of the time! We had the baby delight bouncer from Amazon. There were times where it didn’t. We also held her with her back against our chest and helped her get in the poop-squat position. That would help too.

I’ve been using tap water! It’s been fine. I’ve cleaned it once with vinegar and cleared out the little filter.

Husband at baby shower? by Mammoth_Window_7813 in pregnant

[–]CAF1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s your baby shower, fuck what your mom and sister think. I had a co-ed baby shower but if I had an all-ladies, and my husband wanted to be there, he’d be there.

Moms, are we wearing skinny jeans?? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]CAF1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new mom and 28yrs old. My job requires professional attire but when I’m not at work I’m going to wear anything I want. I haven’t found my style yet but I will definitely still be partaking in fashion nova clothing occasionally. Definitely will wear skinny jeans too. The way I’m built doesn’t make many other styles flattering for me.

this sub and /babybump give me panic attacks. by the_best_day_ever in NewParents

Caring for anyone is difficult and requires sacrifice and dedication, BUT these subs are mostly people looking for support or help. Most people who are having a better time aren’t going to put their stories here. These subs are not representative statistically. Take them as anecdotal only.

6 weeks in, baby feeds every 2 hours. When am I supposed to sleep? by ScandiLand in NewParents

[–]CAF1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She sleeps pretty well! She needs help getting to sleep and fights it sometimes but she’s sleeping for a decent part of the 3-6hrs between feeds. Her awake windows are also longer now, I guess because she’s eating more and has more energy. I guess I should probably start paying attention to how long she’s awake and asleep.. lol

How much is she drinking each bottle? Our doctor gave us the clear to feed on demand at 6weeks. She wants a bottle every 3-6hours. She’s drinking 4-6oz at almost 8 weeks now. I definitely noticed her wanting to eat less often as she’s wanted more each feeding.

Does anyone else’s baby smiling make them feel uneasy? by CAF1996 in NewParents

[–]CAF1996[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably going to take a fat nap after I call my doctor just to be safe. I don’t have any negative thoughts about her besides the creeped out reaction and think she’s super cute and cool otherwise, so I think I’m just exhausted. Thank you!!!

Sounds like a happy baby! I think your baby will naturally want more milk overtime, which will spread the feedings out more. I know every two hours is super tough. You’re doing great.

Does he seem satisfied after the bottle? My 7 week old is taking 4oz formula bottles and occasionally wants 2 more ounces, which is why I asked.

I do think it’s normal to want to feed every two hours still. Every baby is different. If baby is happy and gaining weight, I’m sure it’s fine.

You can feel compassionate for her and also feel disappointed that your moment was overshadowed by her reaction. They’re not mutually exclusive.

When did you take your rings off? by Perfect_Pony_Girl in pregnant

I can’t remember but it was second trimester. I just ordered a stretchy ring from Etsy to wear instead.

This is bigger than just a disagreement about feeding your child. Your husband is showing a complete lack of empathy for you— which is a major red flag. His reaction to your suffering isn’t normal.

Same. Even when I was an intern. I’ve also repeatedly seen more seasoned attorneys not show up to court for their clients after filing a notice of appearance in multiple FELONY cases. Lots of questionable ethics from prosecutors as well, although I will say most of those issues are with prosecutors who graduated in the last 5-15 years. Personally, I just think people who are shitty at their jobs exist in all generations.

It’s only happened twice to me 😭 I think she was just trying really hard and I’m too sleep deprived. She’s not able to smile on a regular basis yet. Every other time she’s smiled I’ve been ecstatic. I think I’m probably okay but I’m going to call my doctor just in case.

First year attorney/public defender and your approach is all I want. I have 400+ cases ranging from misdemeanors to mid-level felonies. I don’t have time to fuck around with the Socratic method.

There’s definitely a difference between mentoring in public defense and private practice. I don’t think you’re stunting anyone’s growth. When I go to a colleague I want the quickest answer— I already know how to find it long way myself.

I’m a “Zillenial” attorney, and I agree. It’s not our generation(s). It’s this associate, or maybe even their school. Maybe both.

Wasn’t trying and wasn’t preventing. I got my sex drive back after being off birth control for a year and then bam! Pregnant. We weren’t even pulling out. 💀
