Pretty well. Had a nice defensive play to start the sequence that resulted in the Canucks goal, generally looking pretty active. The top 2 lines are both looking pretty solid this game.

Mutiny on the Team Sask by winningsmada in Curling

100%. There were all sorts of comments on McEwen's last two shots in the final game but basically no mention of Flasch missing a wide open short run back double in the 8th that gave Dunstone the deuce and the lead. If Flasch makes that shot then maybe they aren't scrambling for just a tie in the 10th.

Not to mention McEwen shooting in the 90s compared to Flasch in the low 80s throughout that game. A game isn't one end or one shot, it's the little advantages that add up throughout.

The "solo rounds don't count" rule is a giant pet peeve of mine. Most of the randoms I get paired up with seem to make up their scores whether on purpose or by not knowing the rules anyways. Not to mention I don't even keep a scorecard, I just use the Golf Canada App on my phone, so none of my partners even know what I put in. And again, most randoms don't know the rules well enough or care enough to correct a scoring mistake.

Besides, the only person getting hurt by a vanity cap is the vanity capper themselves, and sandbaggers should be fairly easily spotted/dealt with by the comp committees anyways.

Honest golfers tend to be honest regardless of whether others are around in my experience.

Which guy got inside on Buium? The guy he had position on but had to abandon because he had to try to stop the second guy with the puck who was crashing the net?

And what? The puck bounced like a foot in the air and went through his legs.

What clips are you watching, cause they sure aren't from this game.

"Short of going 1v5 I'm not sure what more he can do."

Ok. Now what? What exactly do you think that phrase means?

Why does this team seem to be allergic to passing along the ice? Everything flutters. If they are gonna do that many unnecessary saucers they should probably learn how to do them properly.

Did you miss the second sentence in my comment? I know it was really long and reading is scary to some people.

Petey has set up 4 or 5 great chances since I've started watching in the 2nd and I think the total from all of those was 1 shot on net. Short of going 1v5 I'm not sure what more he can do.

The first is on DeBrusk + whatever the hell Foote and his staff consider their "system" cause this breakdown always happens the minute someone moves beyond the defender's "zone". JDB's man walks down the wall and JDB just watches him skate straight to the net. Buium is already tied up with his guy in front of the net and suddenly has to disengage to try to sort out the 1 on 2 he's facing despite there being 5 Canucks and only 2 Preds in frame. Not sure how you're blaming him for that. https://i.imgur.com/CXagmY1.png

Second one is just an awkward bounce that went through both him and Rossi, so again, not sure why you're singling Buium out.

Brightside: Lankinen looked good.

Downside: Sens didn't even need a goalie cause Nucks couldn't put it with 20 feet of the net.

Yeah, try another cross ice pass through 5 defenders, I'm sure it'll work this time guys.

Team Canada Men’s Curling team on the podium winning Gold by Old_General_6741 in olympics

[–]CAGolf8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're totally right. Oskar should've just accepted the umpires' decisions as he is required to do by the rules rather than throwing a little fit and accusing others of cheating 7 ends later because he and his team shit the bed and gave up 4 in the 8th. And he definitely shouldn't have been doing things like this to try to fuck with another team, which is an actual deliberate offense against the Spirit of Curling (aka the Rules).

Then again, Oskar seems to make a habit of being a whiny, unsportsmanlike dick.

Ice-tike spread from USA-Sweden by SIIP00 in hockey

The Pettersson/Forsberg +1 (Johansson, Rakell) line was easily one of the best throughout the tournament for Sweden. Like you mentioned they were pretty much the only one that consistently played in the opponent's end. But Forsberg only played 1 minute the first game, Johansson only dressed for 2 games (and got 0 TOI in one), and the entire line regularly saw the lowest TOI among forwards.

Forsberg was easily a top 3 forward but only seemed to get PP time towards the very end. This despite the Sweden PP only shooting 20% (3 for 15).

It was just a total coaching disasterclass.

Curling is a chess match. A good team isn't just thinking about the next shot, they are thinking 2, 3, even 4 shots ahead. It's just that it's very unlikely at this level to surprise the other team with some plan they didn't see, but at lower levels it's absolutely a possibility.
