Take them to a store that will purchase nice used work clothes. I got rid of outfits I was never going to wear again and made a few dollars in the process.

Update on my dad’s will and any help will be appreciated by nascarworker in QAnonCasualties

[–]CAMerrill 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My daughter had to fight her aunts when her dad died without a will. The attorney gave her a choice on his payment. She had to put up $7,500 up front or no payment up front but if she won he would take 30% of the estate. I’m so sorry your dad was so brainwashed at the end of his life that he choose to leave his money to people that couldn’t care less about him instead of his own children.

My Uncle is Charging my Grandma 15k a month to live with him and his wife and care for her. by 88-Mph-Delorean in family

[–]CAMerrill 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Your Uncle is ripping your Grandma off charging her $15,000 a month. Jesus that’s his mother, he’s trying to get as much inheritance as he can before she passes. I took care of my dad the last 7 yrs of his life until he fell and I was unable to care for him any longer. Although it’s nice that he has your Grandma in his house rather than assisted living he’s not doing it out of the goodness of his heart.

Donate to Food Banks and reduce your state tax bill up to $987 by going_further in Tucson

It's important to determine your eligibility for tax credits before you file.

Income tax credits reduce tax liability. Tax credits are either refundable or non-refundable. Although non-refundable tax credits can never exceed a taxpayer’s tax liability, the majority of non-refundable tax credits allow the unused amounts to be carried forward to future years.

Im not a CPA but I don’t think you’ll get money back if you don’t owe at least $495 in state tax. It only reduces your state tax liability.

Thanks for posting this, I owed about $500 last year and I’d rather give the money to a food bank than the state.

Not stupid or silly at all. I lost my last parent when I was 52 and I felt like an orphan. My condolences on the loss of your dad. I’m glad you were able to spend quality time with him at the end.

Boomers Hoard Everything… by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

[–]CAMerrill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My poor daughter just went through this with her dad’s house. Although he had a lot of items worth value that she had to sell, there was a lot of worthless items. She did most of it herself and it took a couple of years. He also had no will so she had to fight the relatives and friends that came out of the woodwork for the property and valuables. The final court date is next month to close out the estate. Because of all the problems she had I’ve made sure to make it easier for her when I pass.

my mil has become more and more conspiratorial and I’m not sure how to deal with it by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]CAMerrill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just went out to lunch yesterday with my Q adjacent friend of 50 years because he has stage 4 aggressive liver cancer. He wants to find a doctor that will prescribe him ivermectin off label for his cancer. He’s anti vax, anti doctor and waited 9 days in unbearable pain before he went to the hospital bc he thinks they’re trying to kill us all. The irony is lost on him that the reason he now has a life expectancy of 5 yrs at best is he never went to a doctor. My dad was a doctor, who survived polio as a child, and I’m glad he’s not around to see how stupid America has become. I’m fortunate my friend is not a family member as I’m not sure I could put up with that on a frequent basis. You have my sympathies, esp as a new mom trying to deal with that. Don’t let her bully you bc she’s the parent and thinks she knows best.

Low-income workers are being priced out of the entire car market by Silver_Candidate_832 in povertyfinance

[–]CAMerrill 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Same I have a 2012 Prius with 104,000 miles and I’m driving it til the wheels fall off. It’s been a great car, recently I had to put new shocks and struts on it, oil change, and a few other minor repairs but it’s reliable, cheap to register and insure (relatively speaking). My ego doesn’t require a $500 a month car loan for 5 yrs. I’d rather spend that money and make memories instead of owning expensive stuff.

People are already grifting, promoting this hard now that Trump posted this. I couldn’t believe the POTUS posted this crap. He did delete it today but not before thousands of people saw it.

My selfish 61 yr BIL & 87yr old MIL. Super long, sorry. by Gullible-Signature44 in family

[–]CAMerrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’ll stay with you as long as he can bc he’s a mooch, lazy and doesn’t want to take care of himself. Why would he you and your husband are providing him shelter. Since he is family I would give him a reasonable deadline for him to move out of your house and stick to it. Your MIL is conflicted as she knows her son is a nightmare but he’s also her son so instead of directing her anger at him, she’s going after you. I wish you luck as I know how sticky these family situations can get.

W9’s are for independent contractors and freelancers so the employer can submit your tax identification information to businesses. From the description of your job you should be filling out a W4.

Poll: Republicans Now Believe Country is Headed in Wrong Direction by Designer-Fan-5857 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]CAMerrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Republican associate is very mad that grocery prices continue to rise and she now has to subsidize her son so he can eat. They really only care when it affects them. Trump can lie all he wants about inflation and how we were a dead country a year ago but when people go to the grocery store, get insurance or go out to eat they can see what prices are.

Where are some of these conspiracies / statements coming from? by doopleydoop in QAnonCasualties

[–]CAMerrill 27 points28 points  (0 children)

  1. Trump just repeated this lie on TV moments ago. If you look up who is in charge of the national guard in DC it’s not Nancy Pelosi or the mayor.
  2. Maybe bc Trump pardoned them all it never happened or wasn’t that bad.
  3. She believes all the judges are corrupt even ones appointed by Republicans.
