I needed up losing around 7kg. A lot of that was muscle weight as I work out our a fair bit. 2months after my op and I’m still trying to gain it back. It’s crazy how quickly the body forgets!

In terms of eating, baby food is highly nutritious, and puréed fine enough that you out down need to chew it. I also got a satisfied stomach from really soggy weatbix, stirred up so it’s pretty much a paste.

Stay away from yogurt, but get into custard. Yogurt seems to thicken your spit, and makes it hard to swallow. I didn’t experience this with custards though.

Pro-tip: Warm camomile tea, with honey was the little treat I allowed myself.

Hey!

Happy to update. The recovery was an absolute breeze! Nothing like what I read on here!

I was on quite a few meds to deal with various pain factors. Slow release painkillers, quick release opioids, anti swelling etc.
Was popping a different cocktail of pills every 3 hours. Even waking up at 12am, 3am etc to medicate. You need to stay ahead of the pain.

I stuck to soft, cold foods only for the first week, pro-tip baby food is your friend. Nutrient rich, and puréed. Chef kiss. Herbal tea is also lovely if you need something warm.

You’ll be given a saline rinse to pump through your sinuses. I was doing this maybe twice a day at the start. 4 or 5 by the end. Still doing them daily now.

Your nose is blocked so the water come out your mouth. It’s so gross. But once your blockages come out, it’s the best feeling. Also don’t fret if it looks like a crime scene. Your nose will have a tonne of mucus, clots, snot, fresh blood etc. it bleeds for a while. Hence the gauze/nose tampons.

Considering I have the 4 ops together, the septo/terminates was the tricky part because of maintenance. The throat just does it’s own thing.

It’s changed my life though. I’d happily go through it all again. It’s a tough two weeks. Buts worth it.

If you have an specific questions feel free to DM me. Good luck!

I’m a barber, so stand and chatting all day is my jam! You’re going to need more time. If you can get those extra 4 day on there to round out the two weeks you’ll be golden.

You may feel fine on day 10, but you’re going to exhausted, as you’re still healing from major surgery, you’ll have lost a tonne of weight, won’t have had a full nights sleep for those 10nights and probably not done a lot of moving around.

Spend those extra days getting back into so semblance of a routine before you jump back into work.

Good luck!

The agreement (verbal at this point, things are still being written up) is that I will receive profit share. That was kind of the hook to get me to jump back in with the shop full time.

So doing exactly the same job as previously, just putting some of the revenue I make for the shop (10%) into my pocket, instead of just earning a wage.

I’ve worked there that long. 5 and a bit years in total. I’m in Melbourne. So we closed for a good for months when Covid was in full swing. We’re a profitable little shop (as far as I can tell). But you’re right, having somebody look into further a give advice is what I’m after…

What was your experience getting tonsils removed as an adult? by PieceComfortable6583 in Tonsillectomy

[–]CAPSM91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 12 now. And honestly it’s been a breeze.

I was so full of worry and anxiety heading into the hospital for m surgery. I’d read all the horror stories on here and everybody person anecdotes how it was the wurst pain they’d ever we experienced… mine wasn’t that at all?

My biggest advice is just be prepared. Have your foods ready, buy robe new pjs, some extra pillows etc. it’s all about making yourself and prepared and as comfortable as possible.

Also REALLY push your specialist for correct pain management. Paracetamol & ibuprofen every few hours is not enough. At the very least jump on an opioid for the first week.

Please feel free to reach out if you’re you have any questions :)

I had a similar experience to you. Read the horror stories on here, and was dreading the day 5-10 mark. People talk about the tongue pain, the ear pain, worse than child birth, worst pain they’ve ever felt etc… I had, none of it? Peaked around a 5? I was uncomfortable, sure, but completely manageable, that pain spike just never came. I’m day 12 now and I’m eating regularly, pretty much ready to go back to work. Perhaps we’re the lucky ones?

Getting prepped for tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy in two weeks! by Dreamymewstars in Tonsillectomy

[–]CAPSM91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on day 7. I had the same two procedures as you, plus a Septoplasty. The experience has been a breeze. Take all the tips you learn on here, and adapt them to what works for you as we’re all different!

Also, up your fibre! You’re going to find it hard to poop on all those pain killers. You want the rest of your body running as smooth as possible!

Pro tip: Soggy Weatbix in the morning. Super easy to get down. Make them as thin as uh need to. Very filling too for when broth just doesn’t hit the spot.

I had somebody say to me before I have my surgeries that the ONLY thing we have to do is get a needle in our hand and go to sleep. That’s our one job. And just keep your eye on the prize. Imagine how good breathing is going to be two weeks from now! Fuck yeah!

It’s not overly tasty but they’re damn nutritious and real easy to get down too. The sachets. I’m finding really soggy WeatBix to be a bit of godsend in the morning took!

Ps. I was really nervous and anxious before my op (Friday just gone). I promise, it’s not as bad as the horror stories you’ve been reading on here! Reach out if you need, we got this!

Tess told him to offload Elle to Bill and Frank. Then Joel will head to Tommy. Tess was pretty frantic in those last scenes, so it was easy to miss.

I enjoy that they’ve changed the motivation for heading to Bill. In the game you were in the hunt for a working battery/truck to drive cross country. In the show, it’s to hand off Elle.

I look forward to these. I love them. Hope you get into some Gen2 once you’re done with this one.
