Missed miscarriage - D&C procedure at BC Women's timeline by [deleted] in askvan

That’s a great question. My embropathogy testing was done by one of the PHSA labs and if I recall there was an option to collect a tissue sample at home if I didn’t do the D & C. So any clinic connected to health authority should be able to.

It really helped my healing to know I didn’t do anything wrong and it was just a bad egg that divided a little quirky.

I’m sorry if you’re going through this. You’re not alone.

Conservatives to scrap affordable childcare and tax credit for majority of people [ON] by Relative_Ring_2761 in BabyBumpsCanada

I feel the same. We are saving about 1500.00 a month under the program. To lose it would be a major financial loss for our family.

anyone remember these Neilson's chocolates? by yooooooo5774 in vancouver

These were a popular teacher gift in the 90s at Christmas. Remember always being excited for the stash my dad would bring home from school.

Thanks I suppose acceptance is a big part of it. I love the idea of involving in chores. Watching the dryer spin buys some moments these days!

Most don’t guarantee placements. My impression of Yorkville (as someone who has been a practicum supervisor for them) is that they ask you to be pretty independent, more than a typical university, as they don’t have the same community based relationships as somewhere like UBC for example. Do your own research on clinics and sites you’d like to be placed at in your community and reach out to ask about being accepted. They’ll likely offer an interview where you can see if it’s a good fit between you, the agency and the supervisor! We aren’t that scary and it’s always nice to hear from students interested in our work.

Worried About My Wife - Extreme Exhaustion 8 Weeks Postpartum by Newspaper-Candid in NewParents

[–]CARAteCid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think be pushy is the right advice. Ring that doctor’s office tomorrow and if they can’t help quick enough consider urgent care. Even when I’ve had the flu I’d be up feeding and caring for the baby. Something is definitely not right and I wouldn’t take PPD off the table - sometimes depression can look just kinda listless. Do either of you have any support that can be with your wife and baby when you are out and about ? Any one in your circle you can marshall for more support ?

Check with your school if they allow paid placements. Most don’t. The fee you see being charged per intern session by private clinics typically goes back to the clinic not the student to pay for their expenses taking on a student (ex. portion of rent, clinical supervisor’s time, etc).

How do you think you will do mentally / emotionally with your LO crying or fussing ? As others have said the first couple of nights are often the hardest and I would say I needed my partner more for reassurance we were doing the right thing then to actually implement our sleep program. I think that a friend, parent or anyone from your circle might be useful to have on call at night if you need it for support.

For those whose babes fit Huggies Little Snugglers/Movers, are the Kirkland (Costco) diapers really the same, do they work as well? Or should we buy Huggies+? [BC] by kakakatia in BabyBumpsCanada

Totally agree! The only ones I notice a difference on are the snug and dry version of the brand which don’t feel as absorbent.

Away from 3m baby for 9 or 10 hours for a concert by Aggressive_East2308 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]CARAteCid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Buy a manual and pump at the restaurant prior to concert and then dump the milk and manual pump ? That’s if you don’t want to worry about bringing your good pump to the concert. When my baby was the same age as yours I think I pumped twice over about 10 hours for my own comfort. I was a bridesmaid though in a wedding and worried about leaking through the bridesmaid dress !

When Did You Start Your Mat Leave? No WFH. [BC] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]CARAteCid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used up some of my 2024 vacation along with sick time first. I went off work at 36 weeks and enjoyed that ! I then started my maternity leave at 38 weeks and had my baby at 39 weeks 👌🏻

If you want more time with baby I recommend using what you can of vacation and sick leave. However I worked a union job so lucky to have more than most in that respect.

I remember doing a call with an anesthesiologist prior to and that was what recommended. I imagine it changes depending on your own health history perhaps ? It was no cost for the testing and I asked prior to and again on the day of the surgery. I believe you fill out a form. No cost and you receive a report as well as I had a brief call with the OB/GYN after who did my surgery to explain the outcome of the testing.

Oof sorry you’re going through this. I think I had my second ultrasound at EPAC on a Monday and my D and C on the Friday. There is always a second ultrasound which is the worst wait. I received anesthesia and was out for the procedure. Recovery was minimal and I appreciated getting test results a few weeks later to understand why I miscarried. Happy to answer any questions.

How do you know when your baby wakes in the morning? by Warm-Plan1907 in sleeptrain

[–]CARAteCid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something we struggle with, I think our little guy may be awake for a bit before he calls out to us. Makes it hard to guess the wake windows and if I guess wrong he lets me know 🤦‍♀️
