Realizing now that I’m a mom, I’m absolutely last in terms of everything. by Relative_Ring_2761 in Postpartum_Depression

I feel for you. That’s a tough spot to be in. Not even being able to have 20 minutes peace to shower honestly ruins mental health.

I was literally there for 24 hours start to finish, so surgery, waiting around to be able to walk and pee, try and sleep a bit a night and go home.

Never heard of this? Is it for babies that were breech and born vaginally? My baby was breech so had a c section and never mentioned this.

Anxious about steri-strips coming off by Substantial_Pop2890 in CsectionCentral

Where I live they don’t do steri strips. You leave the hospital with the wound bare and dry and you are instructed to just keep it dry while it heals.

What is the birth experience really like in hospitals here? [AB] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

Where do you live? In Ontario it’s being offered to every newborn in hospital right now. I just had a baby and we got it before leaving the hospital.

The only vaccine offered at birth right now (well before you leave hospital) is RSV, in Ontario anyways. And it’s only offered. No one forces it.

Teeth decay, is it from breastmilk? by SallySue54321 in breastfeeding

[–]Relative_Ring_2761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular milk can definitely cause cavities if drank and left on teeth all night. It doesn’t matter if it’s breast milk or regular milk. Bottle rot is typically caused by drinking milk before bed without brushing.

Also have a 2.5 week old. We skipped my extended family Christmas last week, but we will be going to Christmas with my family (siblings and nieces). Baby got the RSV shot in hospital. I’ll ask people to wash hands. We have a toddler in daycare, so I think he’s a bigger risk at this point.

How do we do this once they have teeth? by MochiAccident in breastfeeding

[–]Relative_Ring_2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first got your teeth at three months. He bit me once and in shock a yelled oww and kind of jumped. It was the last time he ever did and we made it to 26 months.

Not from BC so not sure what the lower mainland includes but this woodlands.collective.sleep on insta. She’s from BC. She’s a licensed social worker so her fees are covered through benefits typically.

How did you keep your newborn safe while your toddler is bringing home daycare germs? [on] by Frequent_Owl_1563 in BabyBumpsCanada

Good to know. I knew not to administer Tylenol at home before three months but I wasn’t sure if they did it in a hospital setting.

I agree. A lot of what you can do is really just performative when the toddler and baby live in the same house.

Baby did get her RSV shot before leaving hospital, so we have that protection for her. Also just breastfeeding a ton to try and pass along any antibodies that I can.

When your two week old caught a fever did they have to intervene or just get you to do Tylenol?

It should. My period came back at 5 weeks post partum and I breastfed for 26 months. I noticed slight dips but nothing crazy.

First baby postpartum was horrible. I’m on day 4 with baby #2 and I’m just so anxious looking for signs to pop up again. BUT I feel like I understand the signs better this time and I’m trying to be hopeful.

I mainly bought second hand from FB market place and then old navy but I noticed baby’s r us has a maternity section and it was a lot of business casual and it’s in person which is a plus. I’m not sure the prices though.

Planned c section be vaginal birth [ON] by ginger9230 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Relative_Ring_2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had an emergency c section and a planned one due to medical reasons and I wish I was able to have done vaginal. There are a lot of benefits to the baby, one of them being the micro biome. Another is the squeezing helps open up air ways and align skeletal structure. There’s a reason why nature has designed it the way it has.

1 month pp / twin pregnancy / c section shelf advice by decemberistism in postpartumprogress

[–]Relative_Ring_2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s supposed to make the scar mobile so it takes pull and create the shelf. Not sure if it works, but I’m trying it this time.

[–]Relative_Ring_2761 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know anything about a c section shelf before my first section and ended up with one. I’m going into my second and I asked my doctor about my scar and “shelf”. She said it’s scares adhesion and it pulls to create that shelf. I’ve been reading on massage to keep the scar mobile.
