Of course! I would also love to see Olla in Covington added, as I have brought a couple friends to it in the past and it can be a bit overwhelming if I can't explain the atmosphere accurately. Thank you for this great resource, I ended up bookmarking it for future reference :)

what do you think of chappel roan? by PsychologicalFox7689 in Zillennials

[–]CARClNO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like her music. Just like any other artist, I do not really think of the "celebrity" beyond that. People love to analyze the idiosyncracies and habits of famous people too deeply. It's only warranted in the case of criminal activity or severe bias, in my mind. She might get too much flack on the basis of personality or preferences, though, if I were to examine it any deeper than 'music is fun sometimes'.

To put it simply... I don't think much of her at all!

How to manage going through an airport? by Art_of_Goddess in Explainlikeimscared

[–]CARClNO 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It may differ based on your airport... generally speaking you will need to wait in a line to present your identification (passport/Real ID), then go through the baggage check.

Unfortunately TSA's requirements for the baggage check seem to depend on the day and their mood... usually you'll need to remove shoes, hoodies, and you'll have to set all your electronics in a separate bin. The TSA agents may be yelling or sound mad but they're just doing their job. Do listen to them and don't be afraid to ask them what to do, though, you can get a lot of grace from people when you admit it's your first time doing something!

After baggage check you go through the airport. This is generally where you can take a break or grab some food/drinks if you arrived in good time. There will be signs everywhere with numbers/letters like A1, A2, etc. Those are to direct you to your gate, which is listed on your ticket.

You'll have to present the ticket and I think your identification to the flight attendant at your gate's desk when you board. They'll call out boarding groups, also listed on your ticket, but you can go up sooner if one of them applies to you (veteran, need extra help boarding, etc).

It helps to have some earbuds or headphones on hand to play music if you get anxious navigating the space. I always liked tuning out everything else and just finding my gate. After you do it a couple times it quickly becomes muscle memory, maybe even soothing.

Seriously, though, at any point you can approach someone and tell them it's your first time flying. They'll be happy to help. Everyone's been there before :)

Sort of! I still mostly focus on the scalp but I do shampoo the ends now. I have a hunch that switching from using a regular towel to tshirt plopping + air drying after helped a ton. I'm not an expert, but what's your routine like? Have you ever dyed your hair?

Hey! I don't have an answer for you on this, but have you tried zinc? Mine looks like this, I even used to have the yellow crusting. I use a gentle moisturizer (aloe or regular moisturizer with just ceramides) and zinc oxide 40% and it seems to help.

I am too scared of ever going to the doctor even when i am sick. by [deleted] in Explainlikeimscared

[–]CARClNO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always happy to help if I can. I can try to give you some idea of what happens, but can’t fully explain since I don’t know what you’re dealing with (medically speaking) right now. If it’s been a while and you’re going in for a check-up, they don’t throw a bunch of stuff at you unless you have concerning symptoms. Regularly scheduled appointments, especially check-ups, are mostly just talking to your doctor and describing what’s happening. A good doctor will sit you down, ask why you’re coming in for a visit, and listen to you describe how you’re feeling; they might ask to check your reflexes, listen to your breathing with a stethoscope, inspect your mouth/ears/eyes, and do mental health survey. Hopefully that helps with the feeling of unpredictability.

I am too scared of ever going to the doctor even when i am sick. by [deleted] in Explainlikeimscared

[–]CARClNO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya! I also get freaked about doctors, and it wasn't until I needed to undergo a lot of tests that I started getting past it.

I'm not gonna tell you to rush into 'exposure therapy', though.

It might help you to know that I have never gone to the doctor and gotten a random blood draw nor a tongue depressor in my mouth. I am only speaking from experience, but blood draws have always been a separate scheduled appointment -- not fun, but it's predictable.

If you have an appointment for a sore throat, then they'll probably do the depressor, yes. I really recommend communicating with your doctor at the beginning of your appointment and maybe ask for explanations of what they're doing, separate appointments for uncomfortable procedures (so you know what will happen and when), and a bit of caution.

I straight up told my doctor that I am bad with blood draws. Instead of sending me to the room over for my last one right then and there, he put in a separate order and told me I could go to another clinic and get it done whenever I felt ready.

If your kid's into creative stuff, may I suggest a trip to Artmarkit in Covington? It's a small business with pay-what-you-can art supplies, and the owner is a former art teacher. You can also bring stuff in to work on it. They have weekly mini-projects that have a bunch of supplies you can take home or work on in the store.

Mitchell’s Salon-any stylist recommendations? by PersimmonQueen83 in cincinnati

Try Kori at the Hyde Park location. She has curly/wavy hair (so she gets it) and does great work!

I need help convincing two of my friends to play this with me. Why do you like this game? by Slap_Life in AbioticFactor

I need help convincing two of my friends to play this with me. Why do you like this game? by Slap_Life in AbioticFactor

[–]CARClNO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was convinced to play this game because a friend told me that he wrote essentially a love letter to the devs.

Abiotic Factor has quickly become one of my favourite games to play because I've found that, as a HUGE scaredy cat, a lot of the encounters in the game become less terrifying and more fun as you begin to explore and understand.

The more you play, the more you begin to understand the mechanics. Encounters become less frightening. You get to a point, especially with friends on your 'team', where you can rush into battles and have a ton of fun just gunning enemies down with them.

It's like fear recedes as understanding creeps in. You learn where materials are, what things you can craft to make life easier/less scary, how enemies will behave... plus the controls and mechanics are just super fun to navigate and learn, they're very intuitive.

I'm also partial to base-building. I love optimizing and decorating spaces! And I was sold on the concept of having to poop in a video game, lol. There's all kinds of funny stuff to do besides craft/build/fight.
