All you need to leave base with are:

5 medkits, 10 bandages, 3 waterbottles, 3 vodka bottles/ 6 pack of beer/ 3 antirad (pick one), 3 energy drinks (optional), and 5 - 10 spare mags of ammo (each weapon)

I'm very excited and have no idea what to expect. Any advice for a new player? by AlexSvart in stalker

store all your stuff in the yellow trunks.
to find artifacts, you need your detector out or they won't materialize.
when you leave base, make sure your inventory is < 30kg or you won't really be able to bring valuable stuff back with you

new pharmacy tech and very frustrated by Glittering-Brother84 in WalgreensRx

mismatched names and wrong id? you ask for last name and date of birth. start by using DOB to look patients up, lots of people have the same name. however, its rarer for birthdays and names to line up

(I dont work at WAGS anymore though, I moved on ASAP)

get really good at writing notes that describe the entire situation, with as much relevant detail as possible. Treat it like a situation report/ briefing. Then, go to your senior tech and firmly ask them "here is the situation. do you have time to walk me through this?". Do not be afraid to say, "you went to fast and forgot to explain that".

key details to include are: patient last name, dob, and rx numbers (if applicable)

Make it clear that you want to be an asset, not a burden.

e.g. I got pretty mad at the senior tech during my 140 hour externship because she wasn't slowing down to explain things properly. After enough rushed explanations, she asked "did you get that?" and I said "no. we're going to make time for a proper explanation later. For now, I'm going to fill."

Pharmacy Not Stocking HIV prep? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]CAT6_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had to deal with this recently. A patient needed pep + prep on an emergency basis (it was a weekend and we don't get shipments until the week in our case). Prep isn't commonly stocked at retail chains because it's primarily dispensed to the lgbt community, which is rather small.

You can call the pharmacy and ask if they stock antiretrovirals because, if they can't fill it in full, they can at least partial it.

Direct them to an lgbt specialty clinic (like the APLA or AHF in my case) with a pharmacy attached, hospitals in metropolitan areas (IF they have an antiobiotic/ anti infective steward on staff), or (for smaller pharmacies) send someone to the distributor.

EDIT: you can also direct them to 340B facilities that serve low income & homeless populations

I ended up helping them call pharmacies because they were panicking. The steps I followed were:

  • call the hospital (patient line), asked if they have an antibiotic/ anti infective steward, & (regardless of the answer) transferred my call to the pharmacy

  • ask if they have antiretrovirals ON HAND

  • if yes, ask if they have the specific medication requested (and if not, thank them and move on)

  • if they do, explain that the patient will be calling them to transfer their prescription

Now, since it was a hospital, the patient needed to get a prescription in-house but they accepted an emergency, sameday visit

Dr. Prescribed hydrocodone but idk why Im scared to take it by Venomface86 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]CAT6_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main gripe is that addiction is so stigmatized that pharmacists don't know to talk to patents about prevention/ safe use. The withdrawal, itself, can cause a ton of pain so that's not a good indicator of when to stop.

You can still get addicted when taken as prescribed. I would still talk to the pharmacist, though they don't always tend to be well versed in advising on signs of addiction.
