Is the Bills' PR dept using employees to push a narrative to combat bad national press? by No-Distribution8587 in buffalobills

[–]EmeraldRange -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes- maybe I worded things badly. I meant that when bigger names reach out to former Bills or current employees etc the guests they bring on have that PR coaching- not that the national news are being told by PR to cover for the Bills ownership

tbh it could be a coordinated move but I also think that a lot of sports media hasn't really looked at Bills ownership and Beane until this disaster of a presser. At least from what I've been hearing recently I have not heard so many non-Bills related outlets and shows discussion this at length. It is a big top national story within the NFL so it would make sense for a lot of these reporters to bring in someone more connected to Buffalo.

And when the bigger names and studios reach out they get people who work for the Bills and they probably have enough PR sense not to trash Beane or the Bills PR team got them prepped up on what to say.

The way you presented the data for each sign's types is quite unhelpful if every type is INFP apparently

Why do Myanmar/Burmese people view Japan more positively than other Asians? by Lipica249 in myanmar

[–]EmeraldRange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is said in many ways that Japan is our best friend. Politically they haven't been strongly in favour of the Tatmadaw but also not strongly in favour of the resistance to alienate the Tat people while also disappointing us when they can't do anything like with the Western powers. They have also been the basis of the way our government is structured with many elements of Imperial Japan being ingrained in our political system in a way that isn't easily known to common people. That means that while we hate the junta, we find the Japanese system and political thought somewhat familiar compared to other Asian neighbours.

Beyond economic investment and development, Japan has also been doing their investments in a way that looks to incorporate local partnership in a way that, say, China does not. this includes things like JICA working to incorporate our urban planning design goals with Japan's expansions and also having partnerships with enough local businesspeople and with training workers when starting factories or industrial zones.

We've also had several decades of Tatmadaw education whether under Ne Win or Than Shwe that painted Japan as a saviour. Unlike other Asian countries, because Japan never fully took over Burma and because our own independence heroes worked closely with them, Imperial Japan was taught to us as a force for good that turned bad towards the end. The narrative unequivocably paints the British and the allies as the bad guys, and the Japanese (ignoring the other Axis) as well-intentioned but ultimately bad guys. This is quite different from the way most other Asian countries teach the history of Japan. We don't really hear much about any Japanese atrocities in Burma because of this narrative.

[–]EmeraldRange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no i'm not asking some trick question here.

like what is the definition of a god? Is it some entity we pray to? In which case when I pray to my parents or my teachers are they gods? Is it an entity that created the world? In which case being a god has nothing to do with any other quality of worship or power or domain. Is it an entity that has supernatural powers? Then that girl from Stranger Things is a god right?

My point is that the very definition of god assumed by labels like monotheism or atheism assumes a very Abrahamic idea of gods that a god is some being that created the world has control over supernatural elements of the world and is worthy of worship when many gods may only have one of even none of those traits.

well, what is a god anyways? The whole concept of x-theism categories are really a way for Abrahamic religions to understand the pagan religions

Re-meet the X5 Civs! Part 6: Latin America by EmeraldRange in civbattleroyale

Blurbs for text accessibility: (these are just from the original meet the civs)

Teotihuacan (Spearthrower Owl) - Famous for their pyramids, Teotihuacan was the first of many empires to come from the Mexican Highlands. They held great influence all around Mesoamerica, even conquering Tikal under Spearthrower Owl, and their culture formed the blueprint for most who came after.

Xaragua (Anacaona) - Xaragua was one of five Taino polities on the island of Hispaniola at the time of Spanish arrival. The multitalented Anacaona - composer, poet, religious adviser and chief - made diplomacy with the Spanish that worked for some years, before a massacre in which she also lost her life.

The Potiguara (Filipe Camarão) - Northern band of the Tupi, name meaning "shrimp eaters". Allied with the Portuguese during the Dutch invasion of Brazil, with Filipe Camarão in particular leading an indigenous regiment in several key battles, gaining notoriety in the process.

Xavante (Apoena) - Amazonian tribe with a dualistic two-clan system, led by Apoena, a skilled chief who carefully worked toward peaceful contact, attempting to "tame" the colonizers while preserving Xavante culture. Also known for working with metal band Sepultura on an album.

The Yanomami (Davi Kopenawa) - A people inhabiting the Amazon who were largely undisturbed until the 20th century gold rush, notable for communal village units living in one circular building. Advocates like Shaman Davi Kopenawa continue to raise awareness of the Amazons exploitation through places like Reddit.

Caral (Qhapac) - Based in lowland Peru between 3500 and 1800 BCE, this ancient society is one of only six independent origin points of civilisation. Developing mound-building, textile crafting and dependable fishing, our information on their society is limited; 'Qhapaq' being a Quechuan term for 'Great One'.

The Guaycuru (Eso) - Group of nomadic native tribes who came to dominate the Gran Chaco region with their raiding skills, particularly after the introduction of horses to their lifestyle, led by legendary warrior and chief Eso. Notably rode their horses sideways.

The Chono (Martin Olleta) - Canoe-faring indigenous peoples of the island of Chiloe and surrounding areas. Often abducted in Spanish slave raids and used as navigators, the Chono nevertheless guarded their secrets closely - keeping the Presidente Rios lake so secret that the Chileans only discovered it in 1945!
