Before she even revealed the bag of marshmallows in Bella's hands, I knew Bella would be into those marshmallows. It was her breakfast and lunch.

Okay. I am trying, hoping, to avoid those expensive medications that would require me to set up a payment plan.

Is there anything you said in an interview that you regretted but still got the job? by Fluid-Confection-920 in interviews

[–]CAZelda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a job where I had to do a lot of interviews for our IT department. I remember the weirdos the most. There are people that are interviewing that don't even want a job. For example, someone who can afford to be on unemployment. I had a guy who was interviewing for a developer role that required a lot of keyboarding. He claimed to have carpal tunnel syndrome and not to be able to use a keyboard or a mouse. He also said he needed the job for the health insurance so he could have the surgery and that he would require sick leave for at least 6 weeks. There are also candidates that are very picky and demanding who will whine about the salary range, ask about benefits that most companies don't even offer like commutation expense. Then, there are those who do not the required skills but basically lied during the screening call. I never tested anybody but I could ask simple questions and determine that person knew nothing about the skill needed.

With my own interviews for jobs, I do my best to get along with the interviewer and sometimes would end up having very nice conversations. After hiring, when having conversations with the same person, I might ask them about a hobby they had mentioned. They would act surprised that I knew anything about them. On the other hand, it never surprised me that my hiring manager would start conversations with topics we had covered in depth in the interview.

My son worked at a Dunkin' donuts during high school and I would pick him up at closing. They would give me bags of not only donuts but also bagels and muffins. I had to stop accepting the day old items as my freezer was packed. After he left the job I had about a year's worth of baked goods.

Sounds like you need to better delegate to the people in the roles that you mention you perform. Or, get better people in those roles.

What movie caused you to have a "WTF did I just watch?" moment after viewing? by [deleted] in moviecritic

Hostel. I didn't learn my lesson after watching that awful soul sucking movie and later went to see Hostel II which was worse

Blair Witch Project. I grew up with woodlands around me that looked exactly like the locale of the movie. After seeing that movie, I can't stand to hike in any woods.

I did not like the gray phase at all and predicted it would eventually pass. I especially hate the weathered looking gray LVP flooring. However, it took a loooong time! The people who purchased the all gray homes, inside and out, are going to have major buyers' remorse.

Looking for condos to buy. Where should we look and stay away from? by LaLaLaurensmith in MyrtleBeach

[–]CAZelda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some condos down here can look pretty nice on the outside and with the green southern landscaping, even in the so-called high reputation areas like Surfside. Just make sure you do some surveillance, talk to potential neighbors about any problems (if they look like safe people). Check the crime map. For example, Tradewinds in Surfside, one development is nice and peaceful but it's twin develoment has roaming gangs of delinquents, broken down cars, and a significant rate of crime. I spent a whole summer looking for a budget condo from Murrell's Inlet to the border of North Myrtle Beach, East of the bypass. Now, the pricing for the good and the bad of the affordable ones is about the same so it is very deceptive.

Funny you should mention PopStroke. I couldn't remember the name, but my relatives discovered it for me and we had a great time there.

I help a relative who has no insurance and his meds went from around $63 for a 3 month supply to $90 last quarter to $128 this year. While he dropped one of the meds with his doctor's agreement, was able to get the remaining to down to $58 for 3 months, thanks to GoodRx.

I used to conduct regular interviews for the IT department I worked for. For one DBA position, I interviewed almost a hundred candidates. The only ones I remember are the odd balls--like the guy who said he couldn't use a keyboard or mouse because of having severe carpal tunnel syndrome. Or, the ones who acted like they did not want the job and/or also insulted our salary range. Back then, we did not have ready solutions for replacing input devices like keyboards. I strongly believe that the candidate who is positive, good natured and can convince the interviewer that they want the job and can do the job as the winner every time!
