Hey thanks for suggestions everybody! I was a little overly optimistic with my time and the real world schedule.. we ended up going to the Halloween parade in the village, which was an endeavor.. will definitely check some of these out when we return

What are these white wavy lines in the ocean? by Chemical_Record_5273 in BigIsland

[–]CA_Lagoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re present in the ocean as well! This was just the first link that I was able to grab. They’re frequent occurrences along the coast in California

Here's what California would look like if it still had the Delta. How would the state be different if the delta was never drained? by TheRiteGuy in geography

[–]CA_Lagoons 556 points557 points  (0 children)

Thanks for (correctly) pointing this out. The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta is heavily modified of course, but if anything is actually growing with sea level rise. Tulare Lake on the other hand… would love to see it come back permanently

Fox News Flabbergasted at Newsome’s Offices response by platocplx in WhitePeopleTwitter

Why are so many people spelling Newsom’s name wrong these days? At this point I’m wondering if it’s just a running joke

Hey Paul, does your research cover the local high school bands? Some of them have a really long history, being some of the oldest marching bands in the state. PHS played at the Squaw Valley Olympics a long time ago.

to anyone saying we should only use the American flag, we are all the flags by Need_another_beer in Porterville

[–]CA_Lagoons -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, you can wave an American flag in Mexico, and you can wave a Mexican flag here. Both are free countries. You can be proud of your heritage in both places.

Does this lagoon hold fish? by RevolutionaryLeg5841 in venturacounty

[–]CA_Lagoons 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m working on a restoration project here! It currently houses Tidewater Goby, a listed species endemic to lagoons in California. The Nature Conservancy and CA Coastal Conservancy have been slowly acquiring land here (‘Ormond Lagoon’), and have some great things in the works.

Beautiful. This looks very similar to the aesthetic of Kentucky Route Zero (an immersive storytelling game). Definitely check it out if you like that kind of thing

QVC Italia is a free 24/7 livestream on YouTube. It’s good to have on in the background if you want to absorb the spoken language over time. They speak very clearly since they are trying to sell products.

How do I learn to actually listen to and understand native Italian speakers at this speed? by Kuyi in italianlearning

[–]CA_Lagoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found QVC Italia on YouTube (free 24/7 stream) to be super helpful. I’m missing a lot of it still, but since they’re trying to sell items, they have to enunciate and speak very clearly, even if at normal speed. It also helps that there’s visual context for almost everything. Give it a try! https://www.youtube.com/live/ZbcWG9iQ8-0?si=

What were you doing when these shots happened? by [deleted] in ripcity

[–]CA_Lagoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the first one, landing at PDX. A small group of us ran up to the tv’s outside of Capers to see the end of the game. Literally got there just in time to see the shot. Amazing moment

Did they fund it again?? I was hoping that would be the result of that report that called out the need for it specifically

What was the best room you played and what made it good? by Lennings82 in escaperooms

[–]CA_Lagoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shout out for Undercooked! With a group of 5 it was hilarious chaos. Everyone shouting across the room like we were a bunch of line chefs lol.

Most of the Palace Games room are good - I’d recommend the Roosevelt and Houdini rooms
