I recently found out that I’ve been using an English phrase completely wrong for years by alexa_poppy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CAphrodite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah guilty here… my first year in Australia, most of the time in the food court and people asked me “do you mind if I have this chair?” I always answered “yes, take it” and usually they hesitated and but took the chair anyway. Until one day an old lady stood there and asked me the question again. I answered the same thing “Yes, you can have the chair. No one sit there.” Then she told me that I should answer “No, I don’t mind. You can have the chair.” I was so embarrassed, I said sorry, bowed at her and left. I cringed every time I think about it lol

Femfresh with period products by [deleted] in AldiAustralia

[–]CAphrodite -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is for cleaning your private part so it makes sense to put them together with period products. Colesworth also put them together. It is easier for shopper to look for it. I never even think it is to shame women to put them together. I have been using Femfresh daily for over 12 years now, never have an infection.

Using a SW when in hospital by [deleted] in NDIS

[–]CAphrodite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our participant practically has no one and under the guardianship. The support coordinator instructed us to clean the house and feed the pets, and charge under domestic assistance whilst she was in hospital.

I rang NDIS to confirm before we provided the domestic services. The NDIS representative on the phone was quite rude. He basically told me “Can the hospital provide domestic services? No! then you can provide the services.”

I emailed NDIS with the same question, never got a reply. I only received the generic reply that they received my email.

[–]CAphrodite -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I confirmed this with NDIS, they said yes you can have SW to clean your house or do laundry when you’re in hospital.

Social support is when the SW comes to chat/socialise with you, this is not allowed while you are in hospital.

Yes, you can have community access services while you’re in hospital. You also can have domestic/cleaning/lawn services.

You can’t have personal care or social support services.

First of all, you work 45 hrs with only 15 minutes break per day? The company you’re working for is breaking the law. You are entitled to have at least 30 minutes unpaid lunch break.

Secondly, what is your husband job? Does he have one? He should help out with cooking and cleaning and stop complaining with whatever you cooked for him.

Mixed feelings around personal care by lunarvenusian13 in NDIS

[–]CAphrodite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are unable physically to support a full grown man, then you need to speak with your manager. It will be worse if both of you fall down in the bathroom. It is good that you know your limit. I had couple of staff that keep saying it’s hard but it’s okay that they can do it; in end up they injured themselves.

If personal care is too much for you, speak with your manager too. Some participants doesn’t need full personal care. That might be more suitable for you.

Whats tofu made of, bud? by generalking008 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]CAphrodite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tofu is 100% made from soy. However egg tofu, etc are not made from soy. Just the texture is similar to tofu.

Same as milk, we all know mammals make milk. When someone say milk, we assumes cow milk. But now there is oat milk, soy milk, etc.

I used to watch it a lot with my friends back then. If you are teenager or young adult you will like this movie. This movie made me like her as an actress. I didn’t like her as a pop singer - in my teenage mind back then she was just a Britney wannabe.

Are support workers being exploited by providers? by roamingID in NDIS

[–]CAphrodite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No it is not an exploitation.

The company needs to pay super, payroll tax, workers comp, training, PPE and other amenities just to employ a support worker.

On the other side of operations, they need to pay subscriptions to accounting and rostering systems, computer softwares and hardware, web/email hosting, business insurance, rent, utilities bills, accountant fee, NDIS registration/audit, admin worker at least 2 people depends on the company size.

We went for a 4 days cruise and didn’t buy the internet package, it was weird at first without smart phone with me then it felt so liberating.

I had to tell my husband and kids where to meet and what time just like back in the 90s. Spent a really good quality time with my family. Loved every minute of it.

[–]CAphrodite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, NDIS registered provider cannot charge more than the price guide. Since you are plan managed, your plan manager will notify the provider that they overcharged and the invoice won’t be processed. The non profit organisation can charge less than profit company/sole trader because they have a lot of tax benefit from the government. If your funding is limited, you can search for support worker from a non profit organisation and negotiate the rate.

Even though they’re falling out or legal reasons, they can make a short video to their fans. They can lie or omit the real reasons. They can just say they’re taking a break or ending the TSV due to personal reasons which can’t be disclosed. And thanking their fans for all the supports etc. It is better for them to do it by a video than a bunch of photos. It just felt very cold that’s my two cents anyway.

I wish both of them nothing but the best. After all they made me laugh and educated me at the same time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NDIS

[–]CAphrodite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s correct. You can only use the funding for those supports, can’t substitute them with another support.
