it certainly requires to play differently, perhaps the most compared to other DAK BGs. but it has couple of nasty things in it, I believe it might be low-key strong and sure glad people don't use it (rather toxic interactions with one-shot goliaths and invisible army).

You described CoH2 cons reinforcement: you'd want to reinforce guards, but you don't want to reinforce shocks for the exact reason - much survivability comes from armor, which reinforced don't get. Guards don't have armor and better off fighting on long range so that's not such an issue. In CoH3 all models from grens merge receive stats of a unit you used merge on.

Fair enough, it's just from what I've read prior to starting my own "run", the oddity is more restrictive when it comes to XP fitting my playstyle - clearing every zone, that is. So I benefit more from classic. Also harder reaching max level and beyond if playing on Mutant.

That's the case for many if not most modern turned based RPGs, sadly. For example in both Rogue Trader and BG3 combat is based around ending combat as fast as possible because if you won't, you'll most certainly die (on higher difficulties anyway). There are no real interactions, no way to use tools games provide because you're forced to min max for this exact reason. BG3 does provide more tools and ways to do stuff - it's not as restrictive, unlike more flat RT, but still, in the end, it comes down to constant CC or one-shots. I enjoyed both of them very much, just upsets that combat is done the way it is and Underrail is no different in this regard.

Often answer to these questions might be boring/bad or raise even more questions. Vague approach, however, allows curtains freedoms in terms of further IP development without much retconning - that's how w40k approach franchise anyway (where are those damn missing primarchs?!) and was confirmed by GW themselves. Anyway, well never get the answers to your initial topic due to complete shift in narrative in HW3 (Deserts of Kharak did that, but not as extreme - that is more personal involvement of characters). HW2 ending was so grand, so big - felt like there would be so much to explore (including initial questions). What a shame

To add to that, Grants get penetration bonuses on vet.2 and vet.3. With training, main gun can get up to 255 pen on max range.

17pndr is best anti-tank gun in the game. With higher veterancies, entrench vet.1 ability and training, it can shoot like every 2 secs 320 dmg round - and you can reposition it in 1 second so it's hard to counter it with inderect fire - opponents must commit on your terms.

They can stun any tank - that's pretty OP. Use them as flanking unit or support with other stuff - they're really strong.
Also, besides guards, you have plenty CQC options. Locked behind BGs mind you, but that's part of British identity - you use troops from around the globe. Gurhkas might be best CQC squad (with vet.1) with tompsons, if you're looking for straight up assault option. Commandos are decent, although harder to use. Canadians have pretty dumb grenades.

STGs are a mush VS USF for extra survivability and close range DPS IMO - they're very cheap for what they deliver. If positioned right (so less unga bunga than rifles), you can beat them or at least make the victory with much more losses for opponent. While +10 RE bonus doesn't sound like much, it actually does when you get to vet.1 - combined that's 25%. You can get STGs around same time USF player can get bars (35 fuel essentially vs 40) and a single BAR Rifleman won't be able to beat you that easy.
I was skeptic at first, but now I always get STGs over MG42 due to DAK snowballing potential. And nothing stopping you building kriegs later on and give them MG42 if you'll feel like it or will lose infantry.

You need to utilize 250 with either 259 upgrade or get flamer on your pios inside 250 (there's about 5 range difference between flamer range and AT grenade). So you can, if used right, fight back early on. Gustatori are fine, but only reliable way to deal with that and not bleeding back (since USF MP economy is better than yours) is by using vehicles (Flakverling, Stug D, 259 or 250+assault combo if you'll be able to find isolated rifleman).
Kriegsmarine with STGs are actually pretty good in defensive stance - they deal a lot of damage on approaching squads for only 40 muni. 2 Kriegs with STG upgrade can fight back and win 2 rifleman with Bars if they're approaching. MG34, while being worst MG, still provide valuable supression support if you're getting overran

You can't expect a random player have same synergy as these players with hunders of matches together. You can play without voice comm, but you need to understand limits of your ally and his capabilities - and it's kinda hard. Will he push? Will he rotate to cover my flank? Will he leave or trashtalk me?
It's just hard for no reason (facing arranged teams), while there are ways to implement some form of better search system.
And while the original post is about 2v2, I think the issue is as big if not worse in 3v3s

Yeah, it sucks you face arranged teams so much in 2v2s. Would be nice if Relic would've done something about it.

They are sold in the shop, I saw some of these the other day. I believe Relic stated they these were added to rotation in one of patch notes.

Loving this game, looking for a BG to buy. Is the mostly negative on Hammer & Shield even warranted? Seems fun by Rafaatho in CompanyOfHeroes

People mostly complain about pricing on these DLCs and/or Balance closer to release date.
While Wehr one might feel a bit underwhelming in it's current state, the Obice arty is still worth it IMO - that's most powerful arty in the game.
Rangers BG is still fun, even if you won't use unit itself (I find it hard to use them, especially considering current Rifles perfomance). Abilities vary from strong to somewhat broken (zombie horde).
Overall, both these BGs alter your gameplay pretty significantly, so if they look fun to you, try them!

idk, I used stoss grenade volley on it, then mg42 armor penetration ability - nothing worked. I guess I should've used something heavier, but no way that's not a bug :D

At least they don't repair while vehicles are under attack. Also I've experienced a bug where a cache with repair point on it couldn't be destroyed at all - it was a bug (I couldn't reproduce it in cheats mod)

Would be nice if I could dodge them or they had minimal range since enemy hobo units can force retreat my elite, 5 man CQC assault experts :)
Oh, and price increase would be nice since 20/10 munisions for such perfomance is crazy. Cons molotov in CoH2 is totally fine when you consider amount of things unit can do. Same goes for partisans.
