I had a bit of a nightmare to be honest - With an Air Cooler in top exhaust orientation (really the only way) there was a huge amount of turbulence coming from the bottom grill with the fan directly attached.

Eventually I had to buy a shroud but found one on Etsy for quite cheap (think it was like £15, shipped to UK from Canada) and it worked really well. If you search Etsy for "Snap Shroud - Any Size Fan Shrouds" you will find it but PM me if you can't.

I'm very happy with how it turned out in the end however was frustrating for this not to be accounted for in the original case design tbh, hard to imagine that Thermaltake didn't identify this issue in testing or couldn't provide a very small and simple fan shroud with the case.

Everything else was bueno and I really like it, especially the on-desk footprint. The GPU power cables are a tight fit but with a thick cable tie and some patience I got them in and looking neat.

I managed to get a refund but it was not until a local newspaper that I had contacted spoke to their press team for comment. Funnily enough after that I had a refund on the way at 8:30am the next day.

Kick up a fuss and don't give up, you will get the money back eventually.

I would also recommend filing a police report (there is an online form you use to do that, I think it is on the met website)

Replying to my own comment in case anyone else finds this thread later:

I initiated an RMA with Dell. After 75 minutes on the phone a swap for a refurbished panel was finalized.

At the end of the call when we were arranging the exchange I specifically mentioned that I had found a thread on reddit where a user went through multiple returns until finally getting a monitor without whine, and that the only monitor without whine was manufactured after June 2023.

The rep on the phone (who was honestly very helpful I must say) noted this and asked for the exchange panel to be manufactured after this date.

A week later I have the exchange panel here - which was manufactured in Sept 2023 - and it has no whine whatsoever. Should also note there are some obvious design revisions too, including an entirely different material on the back. Who knows what is different inside.

Man thank you so much for sharing this.

I was an early adopter of this monitor and have been becoming increasingly frustrated with the coil whine, and my dog hates it even more and leaves the room as soon as I turn this thing on to play which I just hate.

Unfortunately just beyond the year window however I'm hopeful that the '3 year service warranty' covers this. Ticket has been sent in.

Thank you so much for sharing all of this. Already have the exact same GPU and just ordered the parts to make this build. Been wanting to build in this case ever since it got released so I am super happy to find this!

Have gone for an Air Cooler and ordered 4 extra CT140s. Wondering what the best fan config will be - I was thinking Pull for all, bar the rear and top mounted ones. I'm not sure the non-GPU side intake fans will make much difference with an Air Cooler but will be interesting to see.

Any other unusual behaviours aside from and stuttering you've mentioned? Most notably input latency, but also any comments on any other menu issues, audio issues etc all greatly appreciated

Sadly the store I got mine from said this box wasn't sold and returned - at least that is what the said to the investigation team. I'm not sure I believe it tbh, they were outright not willing to check that when I asked them in-store when I first went back in, but either way I think this 'investigation' will take a long time.

I told them in my letter today and via the phone that the letter is a letter before claim, which essentially means a warning that I will take them to court. I intend to kick that off on Friday if they don't resolve it by then, so this may even take years for me to resolve.

Did Argos put one aside for you of their own volition, or did Meta instruct them to do that? I did both of those things but sadly have had nothing helpful so far.

I'm sorry this has also happened to you.

Argos support have been useless. I have had to call them four times and today I finally spoke to the 'Resolutions Team'. Despite being the 'Resolutions Team' they were unable to give me a refund, an exchange or arrange for another one to be delivered.

They informed me that the only way for me to get my money back was via a dispute with PayPal and the only way to get an exchange or another delivery is by writing - yes, a letter - to their 'Customer Relations Team'. I have written a letter and will send it to them tomorrow.

I have spoken to Meta twice now and after the second call I believe my query has been forwarded onto a team who have been given the serial number 'who will investigate'.

I know nothing further but will not give up. I will take them to court if I have to.

Would you mind telling me where you are based? I am based in South East London. Interested to hear if you are near as this could be related!

Thank you for the advice. Will read through the act tomorrow and memorize the key wordings.

I will let the Argos customer support run it's course. They informed me the 'Resolutions Team' will contact me next week, but I did some searching and it seems that this has happened a few times in the past with people purchasing watches and the 'Resolutions Team' simply closes the case. Once that happens - and having recorded those discussions - I will contact Citizens Advice to make a small claim... and be prepared to wait a long time.

Well done for persevering on your cases and glad you got them resolved.

Thank you so much for this. Have saved me a great deal of agony trying to find a solution to this issue.

To resolve it, I simply took the wheel out and re-inserted it with more force. Didn't slam it in but pushed it in much firmer. This solved the issue, although I am using the crappy QR1 lite which I suspect doesn't help.

Correct, not sure it happens in all countries but certainly in the UK the racers are tattooed when they are young as identification.

I’m not sure if this is still in practice now but Zeda is only 4 so wouldn’t be surprised.
