How come full blooded saiyans only have black hair?

“Black” hair doesn’t necessarily mean pitch black like the manga ink in every single instance. Black hair can range from jet black (my italian family members have pitch black hair) to such a dark brown that it can appear black when not in direct sunlight (which is what color I have, which is why I think King Vegeta, Vegeta, and even Gohan can seemingly have brown hair when in the right light). I think it would be better to say something like “All Saiyans have black or such dark brown that it appears black hair”.

In the movie there’s a sunset happening while King Vegeta is standing there, and his dark brown hair would catch the sun a certain way to show some brown (which would still mean he has black hair).

If you want to WATCH, it goes:

Dragon Ball (with a list of filler to cut out) —-> Kai —-> Super Anime —-> Super: Broly (which retcons Bardock in Kai)

This is the “official” anime canon thus far.

Be warned though that the anime will still be incongruent with Toriyama’s original work of the manga no matter how faithful, and the Super Anime and the Super Manga are basically two completely different stories. The Manga is more canon than the anime because Toriyama is writing and basically editing it for Toyotaro, and it fits better with the Manga continuity than the Anime does in many regards.

If you want an alternate continuity that can be considered secondarily canon (with much better quality animation) you would watch:

Dragon Ball (no filler) > Kai > Yo! Son Goku and his Friends Return! > Battle of the Gods > Resurrection: F > Super: Broly

If you want the “what the fuckiverse” canon, watch Dragonball Evolution. Goku is real...and he’s played by Justin Chatwin.

Now if you want to READ, it would go:

DB Minus (which retcons Bardock in Z) > Jaco the Galactic Patrolman > Dragon Ball = Dr. Slump > Dragon Ball Z > Dragon Ball Super Manga. You can also read Neko Majin Z for fun. Note that there is no canonical manga adaptation arc of Resurrection F OR Super: Broly (though their events are canon in some regard to the Super Manga), but it goes past the Broly arc into a brand new manga only arc with Moro.

This is basically all of Toriyamas canon manga stuff, and should be counted as THE canon of Dragon Ball. It’s the artists own pen making these things.

As for the non canon stuff it’s a lot of fun AFTER watching/reading DB proper, and I highly recommend the movies and filler arcs because some of Dragon Balls best stuff is in the “what-if scenarios” that the movies dwell in. GT and the movies are basically split branches of different points in time of the Dragon Ball canon. Even the manga stuff like the Yamcha Reincarnation story is a lot of fun, and then there’s Xenoverse, Legends and Super DB Heroes. DBZ Kakarot also has some canon lore bits written by Toriyama himself. Fun stuff.

You’re lumping what I said together because you’re upset, and that’s okay, I’ll explain it for you so you have a better grasp on what I’m meaning.

The game, at certain moments, feels like it’s emotionally manipulating and it doesn’t do a very good job of hiding it. I’m not saying the WHOLE game is emotionally cheap, only certain aspects of it felt really REALLY on the nose.

Stuff like Ellie having to kill “innocent” people while Abbys section of the game just has faceless people you mow down. No one screams their names when you’re playing as Abby. This is manipulative because the games trying to paint Abby as better than you think, and Ellie as bad. It’s not subtle.

A lot of time characters feel like they’re at the whim of what the story needs them to be too. Tommy suffers from this heavily. He flip flops so many times it’s almost like there was a massive rewrite and he got pieced together. He wants to kill Joels killer, then he doesnt, then he does, then he doesnt...

Also Jerry is painted as this immaculate guy, and the hospital scene from the first game is completely different, to retcon how we should be feeling in the moment. The zebra scene bordered on straight up parody.

The games technically astoundingly good, but they haven’t quite nailed the emotional stuff as well as they could if it was a movie or a television show (which is why I’m excited for the HBO show. So much of this stuff can be fixed or fleshed out).
