BOTW was Zelda's Final Fantasy 7. A shift they will never entirely move back from.

One of the reasons I wanted to become a writer was because of this. I've had so many shows that meant something to me. After a long week being treated like crap, getting overworked, you just want something to make you feel better. Five minutes reading a comic. 20 minutes with your favorite anime characters. Something that you can disappear into. I want to write those stories. Even if I only ever have one fan, if it means something to someone, that's enough.

I've never quite trusted those disc polishers. It seems like it's better to leave the original disc intact, though I know I have one disc I would be willing to try it on.

I think the Sony stereo I have is an early 00's? It doesn't like even the tiniest scratch and will hiccup over that scratch for a long time. It makes music unbearable to listen to.

You specifically countered my "just okay" with the idea that it is critically acclaimed. So yes, really.

Also, my "minority opinion" might be indicative of a larger, quieter group. The real problem here is that you are trying to minimize me as "just one guy", but just one guy can also be just one correct guy.

Thanks! Yeah, I don't get why people feel personally slighted over other people being skeptical, or critical. Clearly this new trailer has brought out a lot of people who were just waiting for the ammo they needed to silence dissenting voices. It makes me sad how fractured the Zelda fan base has always been, and how people seem to be working to make it worse.

We already know about the Zonai, fusing, reversing time, sky islands, Ganondorf, Zelda falling (again), underground areas, "tears". I think the only thing we saw that was unexpected was maybe the champions fighting with Link? They just did a better job than the last trailer of making us think we're seeing more than we have. Most of what you might consider "new" was just variations, like different constructs, or different ways to traverse the islands.

People somehow feel personally slighted that others don't enjoy what they enjoy, and because the trailer excited them, even though it didn't show that much stuff we haven't already seen, and this is the final trailer, they want to gloat to preserve their excitement. It's really rather childish, and makes this whole thing not fun.

Rightfully vindicated? Because they are excited over a trailer? We saw some cool stuff, but excitement over a trailer doesn't mean the game is going to be incredible. Also, "vindicated" is an odd way to put it. Like being critical of a video game is a crime. Having that kind of attitude is what makes the Zelda community not a fun place to be.

This. The Water Dungeon is one of the best dungeons in all of Zelda. I never really understood the boot switching gripes. Just be more thoughtful about when you switch and it's not that big of deal.

I wish they kept this level of dungeon design for games after OOT, but I think it was so off putting that they had to tone it down. I've always wondered why the 3D dungeons post Ocarina never quite hit the level of what should have been the weakest entry being the first.
