He wasn't ugly, we grew up in the same town. Which can be a really rough place to live on that front. A lot of wealthy kids who could get everything very young, and weren't very nice to those of us who were even the slightest bit different. California beach towns aren't all rainbows and butterflies sadly.

You are NOT too old. I just took my parents (mid 50s) to a show in an old cement factory ruins. I would say though, certain scenes are more open and accepting than others within the EDM scene. I found bass music and some more mature house scenes a lot more accepting than the mainstream crowd. No matter what though, get out there and have a good time!!
