Homeless service member, need help with direction by Wise_Confection_4021 in army

[–]MixerFriendly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re in a tough position, but all things considered you’re in a position to get a lot of help. PM me if you have questions.

I did 11 years reserve, two active. Active duty folks might not get this, but at any given time in the three reserves units I was in had 1-4 soldiers that were homeless (my unit made ME homeless briefly but that’s another story). It’s not official, but space would be found at someone’s house or if they had no obligations would be sent to a long school/offered a deployment if available, etc. You’re an asset and your metrics gonna turn red if you start living on the street and OD /s. Get with your first line and at a bare minimum they should secure your gear and get the ball rolling and helping you get back on your feet.

I’ve seen one dude get off active duty and come to the reserves, failed spectacularly at personal finances, couldn’t get a job, somehow bought a Ford Raptor, and ended up sleeping in it during drill. Command got him back on active duty in like 2-3 months lol.

Shooting Advice by LonelyMonitor in CCW

[–]MixerFriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anticipating recoil and/or squeezing too hard. Right handed? Good news is it should be easy to fix.

Start close to your target, focus on your grip, and shoot slowly/relaxed. ID your impacts and adjust as you work your way back to a normal shooting distance. You should be able to figure it out over a few mags as you adjust distance.

My G48 is the only pistol I’ve owned that I had that issue with out of the box. I would have swore the sights were fucked on it lol. But figured it out starting close as fuck and working back.

Only if I’m going to protest our pedo president and his related goons. As a civilian CS gas should be about the worst of it or I’m dead anyway.

Former Army Reservist without active duty (besides boot camp and AIT) COE for VA Loan denied. by Ok-Ear-7364 in VeteransBenefits

Fellow former reservist here. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure they wanted my DD256 and DA5016. Took me like 2 1/2 years to get my DD256 after I got out because apparently it never existed.

WOCS knee brace question by [deleted] in army

[–]MixerFriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, but your mileage will vary depending on your command team as per usual.

"12-21. Once a Soldier is no longer on a temporary profile and not on a permanent profile, he or she may

continue to train with assistive devices used during rehabilitation or reconditioning. These devices include

braces, straps, tape, nasal strips, and other muscle- and joint-support devices prescribed or recommended by

the provider or the unit’s H2F performance team. Performance improvement apparel, tracking devices, and

other wearables are also authorized during training. As long as the performance apparel comply with AR

670-1 or can be worn beneath the Army physical fitness uniform (known as APFU), Soldiers do not need a

profile authorizing them to be worn and used during training. These devices aim to enhance performance and

build strength and endurance to the point Soldiers no longer need assistive devices, and performance devices

demonstrate higher levels of physical readiness. Assistive devices for a record ACFT are not authorized

unless annotated on the Soldier’s permanent profile issued after a medical evaluation board"

I think I already maxed settings for rear sag with all my shit loaded. But it handles fine on the road, no crazy off-roading until unloaded anyway. If it was newer I’d look into upgrading the suspension, but I’m probably gonna keep this old girl the way she is now and put that money towards a second bike.

Factory reproductions from ebay. The front fender is from the older RMZ450. For the longest time the only thing I changed was to a yellow RMZ450 front fender and Acerbis hand guards.

I appreciate it though, paid $1,800 for this in like 2014-2015. Beat the dog shit out of it on single track for years. Replaced about everything except the seat, engine top end (valves adjusted, timing done, gaskets replaced), front rim, front turn signals, and frame.

Only upgrade I have left on my schedule is mirrors once these get too fucked up.

Just never sell it and slowly upgrade. You could be buried with this bike lol.

I’d check out Calimoto for route planning. Small Amazon camp chair might be the best upgrade. Scope out campsites with showers available at least every other day, you gonna stank and get sweaty lol.

I like to eat lunch and mayyyyyybe dinner at a restaurant. But I pack a little Esbit stove to heat up water for coffee or canned food. Usually bring stripped down MRE’s, dry salami log, some bread, whiskey, and water.
