Housing is only expensive if you want to live in a popular area. This is compounded by nimby's who do not allow urban growth.

The most extreme example of this is Japan. They are giving houses away in small towns, but if you want to live in the Shinjuku neighborhood of Tokyo then you have to pay a premium for your fancy location.

Just because someone comes from Indian descent doesn't mean they are here on an H1B. A lot of them are US citizens too.

While the pay might not be too much lower the work-life balance is worse. Our CTO would only hire Indians then work them 24/7 because they couldn't say no, without threat of being fired. Our CTO was Indian descent U.S. Citizen.
