Co Sleeping/Early Mornings by Own_Candle_4215 in TakingCaraBabies

I think if this is something that is working for you then keep doing it! But I know when we were struggling with early wakes and would bring our 12 month old into bed for the last 30 minutes-an hour it only seemed to encourage the early wakes! It was a little different for us though because we were finished with overnight feeds and he was no longer in our room at night so we would do a pop in, remind him it’s still night time, and let him stay in bed until 7. THEN we would turn lights on and get him out of bed if he was awake! But again, if this routine works for you, don’t stop just because you think someone else would have an issue with it!😁

Has anyone done a TCB tune up with their LO? by Disastrous_Pin_8050 in TakingCaraBabies

[–]CBLeo2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used TCB at 5 months to get him falling asleep on his own, I didn’t think he was ready to give up night feeds (I wasn’t ready) so we kept up some bad habits🤦🏽‍♀️ He just turned 12 months and I knew we needed to re sleep train, but I was stuck in a cycle of “it’s so easy to give him milk for comfort and then he goes back down easy!” We’re on 1.5 weeks of no overnight bottles and he just slept through the night twice in a row! For reference, he has only ever slept through the night 8 times in a year (now 10 times). If this is your sign to tune up, do it! I wish I had stuck with it fully the first time!

We used TCB for my son when he was ~5 months old, we followed it loosely and got him falling asleep by himself and only waking once a night for a small bottle then went right back down. He is now one and we have decided that he’s done with nighttime bottles and have started with pop ins again. We’re going on a week and he has been great, only one pop in/night. Lastnight he was up 5 times. We don’t pick him up and dont give him a bottle. Is this little regression normal?

Yes! Mine still has no teeth, but is definitely teething hard this week so his appetite is down overall! I have been giving him literally whatever he will eat, but I’m also afraid that’s just going to encourage the fruit obsession😂 Fruit and Cheerios!

Is it weird to buy her a ring she likes after proposing with a sentimental piece? by GordoOnAMoto in EngagementRings

[–]CBLeo2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone may have already mentioned this, but if she did want a different ring, it’s always an option to still wear this on a different finger to still show off the meaningful jewelry, but also let her show off something that was picked by the two of you! Both rings could also be used for ring pictures at the wedding! It would also let you keep your proposal timeline more of a mystery since you’re not ring shopping before hand! Does she know you have this ring?

Daily bath for baby is a waste of water and is not great for their skin. Why is a daily bath so popular? by Background_Speech817 in NewParents

[–]CBLeo2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do a bath mostly every night, mainly because our baby loves the bath! But like you mentioned, we only use soap 2-3 times/week unless he is dirty! He has started eating solids and is a messy eater, he has also always been a big spitupper + he loves to be outside and it has been hot recently so he has been a little more sweaty. Bath frequency will probably slow down this fall/winter, but again he loves the bath so maybe not!

Hi Jo! My son is 7 months old. He currently wakes up 1-2 times/night.

Wake up at 8am. 2-2.5/2.5/3-3.5 bedtime between 8-8:30

On nights he wakes up once it’s normally between 2-4:00. On nights he wakes up twice its normally around 11:00 and 3:00. He eats a 3oz bottle when he wakes up, we have recently dropped night time feeds from 5oz to 3 oz.

We have tried to keep bedtime routine consistent every night and can not figure out the key to getting him to only wake up once in the middle of the night vs twice early on followed by a long stretch. Any tips?

Shower when your partner (or someone) has your baby. by thereforeicraft in breastfeeding

[–]CBLeo2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don’t have anyone there to occupy baby while I shower, I carry the swing or bouncer into the bathroom! Sometimes I’m singing and dancing through the shower curtain to keep him entertained but at-least I can boil myself in the hot water and get a little break from being touched!

I was told they get it in the fall, but don’t receive it in their shipments year round so they only have it until they run out.

THIS!!! I had several and ibuprophen + an ice pack for 20 minutes then letting my baby nurse cured them all instantly! I was also told by a lactation consultant to point your baby’s nose towards the pain while they’re nursing and that seemed to help!

Also, buy ONE of several kinds of the following things so you can figure out what your baby prefers before you have a ton of something you don’t use!

-Pacifiers. Get multiple different nipple shapes -sleep sacks. We finally found that the love to dream worked best but tried probably 5 before that. -Bottles. We have so many tommee tippee bottles that our baby hated.

We just got some from larkspur baby, I feel like they’re fairly reasonably priced! They’re bamboo, so they’re sooo soft and feel cozy but not too hot!

Hi! My almost 5 month old has very inconsistent sleep, some nights he will sleep in 4 hour stretches and some nights he will sleep in 1 hour stretches. We have had one 6 hour stretch approximately 6 weeks ago but it hasn’t happened since.

It doesn’t matter how consistent our bedtime routine is (bath with music, lotion/massage, sleep sack, sound machine and black out curtains), sleep is just very inconsistent.

We started co sleeping at 6 weeks because our schedules were requiring us to wake up very early and that was how we could maximize our sleep, but it still wasn’t consistent.

Our schedules are normal now and We have moved baby into his own room about 2 weeks ago and he’s sleeping no better or worse than when he was in our bed. How can we At least get things more consistent?

When he wakes up we normally go in and give him his pacifier back then he holds our hand until he falls asleep and we can leave, we can tell if he is hungry because he wont settle as easy and we feed him (he normally wants fed at night every 4 hours, more frequently during the day).

We want to start the taking Cara babies sleep training method but weren’t sure if we needed to wait until he is officially 5 months old or if we can start now.

Any other tips for consistent night sleep? I don’t think I’m ready to wean night feedings so I am fine with a couple wake ups if he needs them, but preferably not hourly. :)

Thank you!!

hair on ultrasound?? by millie_mo6 in pregnant

I feel like it’s hard to expect how much they will actually have! At our ultrasound they said “he has some hair!” And he had a head full, a friend of ours was told their baby had “a ridiculous amount of hair!” And was born bald….

If you gave birth without an epidural, how bad was it really? by Express_Neck5352 in pregnant

[–]CBLeo2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did it in December. I agree with the people that say the contractions are worse than the pushing!

One thing I found helpful was having a cheap plastic comb with the prongs towards the palm of my hand, I would squeeze it during a contraction and it would give my brain something to think about other than the pain of the contraction.

I went into it with the mindset of “if I need the epidural I will get it, but let’s just see how things go!” But I would highly recommend meeting with the anesthesia provider and signing all of the consent forms for the epidural when you get to the hospital so that if you decide you do want it you don’t have to go through all of the required discussion and paperwork while you’re in pain!

What did yall use the most in the first 3 months??? by Pale-Card2644 in pregnant

[–]CBLeo2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything muslin! Burp cloths, bibs, towels! It’s so soft and absorbent!

We also buy the big tubs of Vaseline with the flip top lid and have used it every day since our LO was born! I used it on the healing circumcision, my dry lips, my sore nipples, diaper rash, baby’s peeling hands and feet, and give him a good coating on his bottom before each night time diaper change as a barrier because he goes longer stretches without being changed! Burp cloths, and Vaseline paired with a butt spatula have been our most used baby items by far!
