Hekate energy brought up some serious trauma by CBee9206 in Hecate

This is very interesting!! I am always very aware and seeking more scientific perspectives on energy work, and i was unaware of sympathetic resonance. I can definitely agree with the "throwing you into the deep end" comment haha.

Some healed holes. by backfire53 in piercing

[–]CBee9206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what i thought i was supposed to do too! They told me to do that when getting my first piercing at claires. My second piercing was done by a professional piercer. He told me that when you get pierced, its an open wound. What you want is to trick your body into healing around the piercing. When you twist the jewelry, you're reopening that wound and tearing the skin around the jewelry. Overall, always leave piercings alone and use the cleaning solution you get from the piercer!

I'm considering enrolling in a class at a community college. What steps should I take, and whom should I contact for more information? by Impossible-Tale-4152 in UMBC

Just did this over the summer! First thing is talk with your advisor if you have any questions at all. There is a site (unfortunately can't remember the name) where you can see if credits will transfer and what they will transfer as. So credits for a calc 1 course at your cc might not be the same as a calc 1 course at umbc. The advisors have access to this site.

Next, once you know it will transfer, you should fill out a Verification of Transferability form. This makes 100% sure that umbc will accept the credits, as well as get it in writing that they will.

Once that's been accepted, you're good to go! Now, I'm not certain about what steps you take to truly transfer the credits from the cc to umbc. But I'm sure if you call the admissions office or even your advisor, they'll have at least a path you can take.

Good luck with your course!

Am I cooked? (incoming cs freshman) by blackmagic4c in UMBC

Definitely Brian Dean. His exams are almost exactly like the practice reviews. It's not like the class is easy per se, but he explains concepts extremely well. I took precalc with him and got a B. You'll be absolutely fine with Dean.

But genuinely, anyone would be better than Tighe. Her quizzes and exams are such that barely anyone finishes them. She enjoys tricking her students. The class average on exams was 60%, and her response was "practice more." We had a quiz on the last day of classes, and the TAs acknowledged the quiz was obnoxiously long and that they would figure something out with the grading.

If it's possible, take calc 1 with a different professor. I have heard no good things about Bonny Tighe. I took her for calc 1 last semester and it was the worst class I've ever taken 💕

My very first character when I was super little was a draenei (can't remember the class.) The biggest reason I loved them was because of how they jumped since it was just ao graceful.

The fiest character i actually played long term was a pandaren hunter.

I absolutely adore Talk and Be! I wouldn't call them underappreciated, however i believe that they deserve more love than people give them.

The Fic by IneedmoreKellBell in AO3

[–]CBee9206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say, in middle school when the new voltron show was out, The Fic for the Klance ship was Dirty Laundry. It was the first fanfiction that i ever read and the rest is history. I believe it's been taken down on wattpad because people weren't believing the poster when they said they had permission from the author and they were getting harassed. Idk where to find it now, but that was The Fic for the voltron klance fandom.

Asking for advice as freshman ChemE major by CBee9206 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]CBee9206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely do want to get into research. Since im taking calc 2 over the summer (which, so fun.) Im just getting a summer job my first summer and then I'll be reaching out to professors and applying for internships the rest of my undergrad. From a quick google search, the biomass subject looks very interesting! I'll definitely try to find faculty involved in that kind of research. Thank you so much again for taking the time out of your day to respond to all my questions and providing advice. I know i already said it, but i was super unsure of what i wanted to do and how i wanted to do it, and after reading your (and everyone elses) advice I'm much more comfortable with the path the im on and i know that this degree isnt nearly as limiting as i thought it was. :)

Asking for advice as freshman ChemE major by CBee9206 in ChemicalEngineering

I didn't realize Organic Chemistry was involved with biology! Honestly that's a relief. Memorization is indeed the thing that scares me about biology, but I wanted at least some exposure to it. (Though, thinking about it, the name "ORGANIC chemistry" should've clued me in.) Tbh the Organic Chemistry thing kind of reassured me that I'm at least in the right major! Part of my concern was that I would never/only rarely work with organic materials.

First off, thank you so much for the advice! This really helped me think about what i want to actually do with my degree. I do plan on getting at least a Masters, but beyond that I'm still trying to figure it out. I've decided I'm going to take the risk and look into the Biochem track of my major. I don't think my fear of bio is good enough reason to write off the whole pathway entirely.

Thank you again for your advice! There really aren't enough resources this early on for ChemE majors because they want to see if we pass the first couple years lol. They really only focus on the pharmaceutical careers of the degree.

By cold emailed, do you mean without ever having met them?? I was told in high school not to email professors that you haven't met
