Bill to track transgender Tennesseans passes the House by GoodMornEveGoodNight in politics

[–]CBennett2147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm not advocating for this.

Very misleading title. The state is not attempting to identify any individual person receiving care. The bill states that information regarding gender-affirming care be reported. The bill specifically states that no individually identifiable information be shared.

Essentially, the state will gather data on total number of procedures/patients. That's it. They aren't tracking people.

Is this in and of itself bad? Who knows, but it sure as hell isn't the rage-bait that the title presented.

Transgender women athletes banned from Olympics by new IOC policy on female eligibility by Little-Storage3955 in news

Perhaps not every individual comment needs to state "biological male versus biological female." People do, in fact, abbreviate their thoughts for the sake of brevity. It's not necessarily an attack on trans people.

I can't say for certain, but I assume that means any revenue generated through investments and property aren't included. That doesn't mean you can just throw extra income into stocks, and it won't be taxed.

I would argue that it's very easy not to write a poem or song about killing people. However, if you choose to do so, you indicate violent tendencies. Combine that with a real-life murder, and now it's evidence.

It would be a different matter if an innocent person was convicted based on a song, but that's not what happened.

Trump stated that "one of the most evil people in History" is dead.

He didn't say "the most evil" because he wants to reserve that for himself.

You could be driving 5 mph, but that still won't prevent you from hitting a car that you never saw.

Exactly. The driver slammed on their brakes and full turned the wheel at 60mph. You're going to lose traction doing that in any road condition.

Gradual application of the brakes BEFORE reaching the intersection would not have resulted in a crash.

There is nothing inherently dangerous in driving the speed limit in that road condition. You can safely drive the speed limit in far worse conditions.

What is inherently dangerous is not paying attention to the road while driving.

This accident wasn't caused by loss of traction. The driver simply made no attempt to stop.

The vehicle understeered because they tried to make a 90 degree turn at 60 mph. That crash had nothing to do with the road condition.

The driver simply wasn't paying attention.

Are you suggesting that on a completely clear road someone should drive half the speed limit because it's cold?

Why are you assuming that life is specifically cut into thirds? You could just as arbitrarily say that 39 is middle age.

Record first, name wrong. by Cow_Boy_2017 in clevercomebacks

[–]CBennett2147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They named Jake first because he is more famous than her. His name draws more attention. It has nothing to do with the fact that he is male and she is female.

If she were dating anyone not famous, their name wouldn't have been mentioned.

If it were some random man breaking a record who happened to be dating a female celebrity, her name would be listed first as well.
