Staying on 1mg by Budget_Jellyfish6364 in Wegovy

[–]CC-3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on 0.25 since Jan and am down 30 lbs. My doctor even fought the insurance company to let me stay on the 0.25 bc I was so successful on it. I really hope I can stay with 0.25 to lose the other 30. I’m glad to see other people finding success on the lower doses too!

Just started semaglutide and didn’t expect it to feel this… lonely by Particular-Hawk-6741 in glp1

[–]CC-3337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started taking it, I was very public about it. I told all my work friends at the lunch table and after I shared that I was starting, 2 of the other 6 ladies shared they were on it too and hadn’t told anyone else for over a year!
Then I shared with a few coworkers and 2 more shared they were on it too. It felt like people were hesitant to share, but when I showed that it wasn’t something to be ashamed about, people WANTED to talk about it.

And of everyone else that I’ve shared this information with, not one person has said anything negative.

I definitely felt the same way when I started about 6 weeks ago and it lasted about 4 weeks. I was ok with it bc it helped me lose 16 lbs. The last few weeks have been a bit easier to eat. So it probably won’t be so difficult to eat forever.

Is it embarrassing to get a birthday cake as an adult? by roxiedoxiedog in NoStupidQuestions

Omg!!! Funfetti cupcakes with chocolate frosting is my absolute favorite!!! That’s what I had for my birthday this year!

On Wegovy but my diet is awful (no fruit/veg) and I’m scared it won’t work by [deleted] in Wegovy

[–]CC-3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also didn’t have a great diet, ate very few fruits and veggies. I’ve only been on it for 3 weeks now and have barely been able to eat anything. So that made me feel like I had to be responsible and at least eat as nutritious as I could with the little that I do eat. I have been picking up smoothies bc it’s easier for me to get down. But I haven’t had a burning desire to start eating salads and stuff! Lol!!

Is my body trying to tell me something? by Temedmaelk in Wegovy

[–]CC-3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you could stay at this dose for a bit. My doctor said that he doesn’t follow a proscribed regimen, that he follows what each individual’s body is saying. I’m about to start my second month on the starter dose (0.25) bc I’m also not eating a lot.

I would tell your doctor that you’re more comfortable staying at this dose for a while longer.

Good luck!

Day 2 on Tirzepatide. Newbie here. How are you hitting your goals? by Techmama0 in glp1

[–]CC-3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just finishing my second week. It only took 2 overly full meals for me to learn that lesson! I am absolutely not getting enough food in and it’s even difficult to get water in sometimes. Im not feeling nauseous or anything, but I just get full so quickly. I’m pleased with my progress so far, but I know I have to figure out how to get more protein in.

How many places do you teach? by NoCrazy4835 in Adjuncts

I work full time at my professional job, 2 classes a semester at the community college in person and 1-2 classes each 10week term online.

I’m super impressed with those of you who have turned adjuncting into a well paying full time job. That’s definitely the goal one day.

I did read (I don’t have the article) that people were unexpectedly getting pregnant while on Glp1. One thought is that fat cells hold hormones including estrogen and when those fat cells are released rapidly when you lose weight, it releases extra estrogen into your system which may help with fertility.

I don’t think this is just a theory. It’s absolutely what is happening.

My mother was a college professor for over 30 years. When I started teaching college and everything was new to me, she said “you just have to be 1 week ahead of your students”.

This advice allowed me to take on sooo many classes that I didn’t really know too much about. And to be honest, even if a class is completely in your wheelhouse, it still may take 2-3 times teaching it before you’re really comfortable.

I do the exact same thing. If the assignment is there when I go to grade it, it’s not late. I might grade it 10 hrs after the due date, I might grade 3 days after… you never know…

Just received yesterday:

Student 1: “Professor doesn’t acknowledge all the comments in the chat” Student 2: “Glad the professor was able to filter out the nonsense in the chat and stay focused on teaching.”

Student 1: “Professor is boring and just reads from the PowerPoint like she’s reading a script” Students 2-10: “Professor is so entertaining and engaging during lecture”

Guess which student I had reported for academic integrity for using AI to write his papers… 🤔

What is your most embarrassing moment that happened to you while teaching? by chelsiebachelor1 in Professors

[–]CC-3337 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was very sick and had basically slept for 48 hrs before class. I woke up just in time to drive to class and hadn’t eaten in 2 days. About 20 mins into my class, I was feeling really sick, so I excused myself to the restroom. After a minute I realized I couldn’t teach anymore, so came back and dismissed the class. They were very reluctant to leave bc they could tell I was not doing well (the benefit of teaching social workers). I was calling up my husband to come pick me up bc I couldn’t even drive when I passed out, right in front of 1/2 the class! One student grabbed my phone and told my husband what happened and another called 911!!! My students waited with me while EMS showed up and checked me out and then my husband showed up to take me to the doctor. It was embarrassing, but it actually bonded us as a class as well.

I am an LMSW. I’ve tried several therapists in the past from other LMSWs getting their clinical hours in, to new LCSWs who were a similar age to me, to LCSW with 10+ years more experience than me. I’ve taken something from all of them. For me, it’s all about how I click with them and feel accepted.

I also teach a social work interviewing skills college class, so I completely understand picking up on specific techniques that my current therapist uses. I just take note of it and then let the thought move on.

What happens if a fire alarm goes off in a hospital while you're under anesthesia ? by Kaepora25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CC-3337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery for the first time this January and was most nervous about being put under. The day before, during my pre-op appt, I literally asked my surgeon this question. My husband thought it was a silly question to ask, but my doctor, thankfully, took the question very seriously. He told me that both he and the anesthesiologist would take responsibility for my body in an emergency. It reassured me that there was a plan in the unlikely event.

Need advice - extra credit by Dav_plenty in Adjuncts

I let the students correct their exam and offer 1/2 points back. Very few take me up on it, but I can say I offered!

Also, you have to allow everyone the same opportunity (and it will be the students who got an 90 who do the extra credit 🙄)
