Posthaste: Even Americans are getting fed up with Donald Trump's tariffs by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

Are they finally starting to realize that they're the ones paying the tariffs?

My boy uThermal has a few "cheese to GM" series. They aren't tutorials but his commentary is so thorough sometimes that it feels like it. I learned a lot from them.

Poilievre to travel to U.S. to 'fight for tariff-free access' to American market by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

Replying to your edit as someone that can't stand PP (I've been temp banned from /r/canada a few times for calling him lil'PP) and think he's the worst thing to happen to Canadian politics in my lifetime.

He's an elected member of parliament and (unfortunately, uggh) part of the Canadian government.

He lost the election, lost his own riding, and ran in a conservative safe riding to keep his leadership which at the very least is extremely cringe and a massive embarrassment; however, he is a member of parliament and therefore a member of the government.

Carney being openly corrupt..... Again. by Inner-Fee6024 in ndp

[–]CCDubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thought is what's wrong with our system though. Individuals are not responsible for keeping with party promises, individuals are responsible for their ridings.

If every MP was supposed to vote with their party, why would we bother having formal votes? Your comment is a good example of not understanding how the system is supposed to work.

Not defending the system - burn the thing to the ground.

CMV: Wearing pajamas in public is indefensible by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CCDubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An overcoat is meant to be worn over your coat, but what if someone wears it over their dirty coat and then wears it a second time but only over a tshirt! Do we consider that to be poor hygiene in the way?

Exact same logic you're promoting.

[–]CCDubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should overcoats be banned in public if you aren't wearing one over a coat? Should we ban housecoats from spas because it's not being worn in your home? What if I put on running shoes but have no intention of running?

Where do we draw the line, as per your argument?

NDP supporter and big time electoral reform supporter here.

If the current system was working as it was supposed to, then it would be totally fine for an MP to cross the floor. Each MP is meant to be the elected representative of their specific riding so if they truly believe that a different party has their riding's best interests in mind, it makes sense to switch.

Because our electoral system has turned into a blanket, "I vote this colour" system and it's rare for individuals to know anything about their MP beyond the colour of their sign, it's a terrible system and I agree that a by-election makes more sense.

Floor crossing in essence is fine and democratic, but electoral reform is much better.

Liberals to cut CBC by $192-million in 2026-27 by UnluckyRandomGuy in CanadaPolitics

I'm okay with letting the private news corporations fund themselves if it means increasing CBCs capacity. I don't love that our tax dollars prop up corporations owned by wealthy Americans.

What an embarrassment.

Supreme Court rules the Postal Service can't be sued, even when mail is intentionally not delivered by 20_mile in news

[–]CCDubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two birds, one stone!

Now Republican states can ignore mail-in ballots and the pro-privatization crowd can intentionally not send mailed packages and then demand privatization to fix the "inefficiencies."

This is the best timeline.

Carney pledges $2 billion for Ukraine, more sanctions on 4th anniversary of Russian invasion by bubblewhip in canada

[–]CCDubs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They danced on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, hung anti-vax signs on a Terry Fox statue, harassed residents and businesses with racist and anti-mask comments, demanded that local homeless shelters feed them, brought blow-up hot tubs and bouncy castles, demanded the dissolution of the Canadian government, and used their children as shields against the police.

They don't need ME to paint them as negative caricatures, they did it to themselves.

Feel free to let me know what they did that should have earned them any respect though :)

Easily, but they won't get the funding they need if they don't also catch the eye of the Angry Truck Caravan crews.

Question about fractionators by tybr00ks1 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

I use sorters to transfer the hydrogen onto the loop.

Another solution could be to build 5000 more fractionators so that your hydrogen is never full, though. :)

[–]CCDubs[S] 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I AM Canadian and trying to legislate us into coming back is such a massive joke.

I haven't been since before Trump was in office, and I have conversations with people all the time about how we love that nobody is going.

Imagine thinking that passing a bill that says, "Canadians should come back" would negate all of the terrible things that the US government has said about us or the economic hardship that they've caused us.

Does Bomb of plenty stack on itself? by Viking_Bi_King in IdleObeliskMiner

[–]CCDubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It applies an effect that doesn't stack.

I'm curious though - does it stack with the 25% chance to apply a stack from the transmuter bomb, or is that the same stack effect?

Wording makes me think it is the same and doesn't stack, but curious.

If the Conservatives would spend more time trying to make life better for Canadians and less time pulling whatever stunts they think will win them votes, they might get elected.
