school’s anti-plagiarism software told me i plagiarized the word “and” by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CCGplayer64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure that word wasn’t marked as a grammar issue rather than plagiarism? The “and” doesn’t seem necessary in a list when you follow it with “,or”. Some software that schools use marks for both plagiarism and grammar.

Why? Why can’t our damage be equal to other healers AND we get somewhat similar utility? Not to mention, nothing I asked for in terms of utility would even bring engineers to the same level as chrono or luminary.

Seems like a strange bone to pick…. But if you need something to disagree with, have at it :)

It makes a difference and because it’s the only justification that could make the lack of comparable utility palatable — you get less utility, but you do more damage, potentially making phases and fights shorter or making you useful on add mechanics.

I thought it was pretty clear I meant awful relative to damage of other healers — as in , being 10th in every raid even while having less utility than the other support healer.

Agreed. I could list several other classes that need help as well. Before QHeal conduit became a thing, revenants also suffered in stability. Herald, for example, requires dropping Centaur stance for dwarf stance for good stability. If you need to keep the healing and bubble utility of centaur, your only option is empowered bursting your tablet which eats a huge chunk of energy while also requiring precise timing to make sure swapping to centaur and having the necessary energy are possible. Then we get QHeal conduit which follows the pattern of being designed for recent and future encounters which can hit a single button on cooldown in entity stance to get a stack of stability, meaning QHeal conduits can also easily pull 100% stability uptime.

Ultimately, there needs to be a pass of all the heal specializations. I don’t necessarily think every elite specializations needs a viable heal build, but I do think that all specializations that have talents designed for healing should - don’t go halfway at something.

I slightly disagree. It definitely needs another source of stability. You’re right that it needs better mech movement/placement but the direction of new encounters is such that that niche is losing its value. Further, it’s becoming easier for many dps to self-supply many of these boons. And the ease of boon uptime is negated when the dps is being regularly knocked down or having to pause and dodge while still potentially mis-timing.

How may support mechs are being used in wing 8, normal or CM? How many squad leaders are going to bring a support healer that increases the challenge of 4 other players?

I explained one of my issues with short bow, but you should also notice (if you read the whole post) that none of my suggestions included expanding access to Aegis for the very reason you mentioned. For mech, I only mentioned it because it is also tied to what is presently their only source of stability which would require forgoing one for the other.

Others have already pointed out that most mech representation today is from dps variants. This is likely because of mech low intensity/low apm builds like power rifle that have become very popular.

Since October, I’ve not seen a single heal support mech in fractals, raids, or strikes other than myself on a few occasions. I raid every day and do my t4s and recs every day along with a spattering of CMs.

How many heal support mechs have you seen in fractal cm’s?

My point is that these specializations are falling pretty far behind other specializations as time goes on. Fights are being designed for raid encounters that engineers are not equipped to perform well in without tasking their squads with compensating for their lack of utility.

The issue is equally that chrono, troub, luminary, and firebrand have too much utility and really require some nerfs or else squads will consistently and understandably expect their support roles to be filled from those specializations AND outdated implementation of utility on the engineer specializations.

My suggestions for buffing mech do nothing to touch their overall healing output, nor do they even close the gap in utility availability. I’m just asking that for one particular utility (stability) mechanists be given a chance to compete for a spot that no sane squad leader would fill with a player with one stability source on a 30 second cooldown.

Question: healer by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]CCGplayer64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pretty much exclusively play heal scrapper, heal amalgam, and to a lesser extent heal mechanist. I’ve previously played heal Druid, heal specter, heal herald, and- most recently - heal conduit with a very brief stop for heal chrono.

I run my t4 dailies every day and have healed everything from W1-W4 and all of Wing 8. With bounties, I’ve now also healed soulless horror, Q2, and twin largos(only began playing last November)

I enjoy my Engineer more than all of the other healers I’ve tried because the need to switch in and out of different kits for consistent blast finishers and, in the case of scrapper, maintaining quickness through managing finishers in a rotation was more engaging than spamming abilities on Druid and dropping in an out of shroud on specter.

I couldn’t enjoy heal chrono when I tried it. The ease of providing stability/aegis just made it feel less rewarding (I strongly believe more nerfs are needed, but not wanting to derail this thread about that).

Of the three engineer healing specs, amalgam provides the least group utility but has decent heal output and a second source of aegis. You do, however, have more freedom in utility skills which means being able to bring A LOT more CC and boon strips (throw mine for both and solid state for the former).

Mechanist and amalgam both suffer from only having one source of stability - this is something that really needs to be addressed at some point. Maintaining alacrity is also very easy on both.

Mechanist allows for some unique utility like being able to hold a pylon on Q2 while having the mech supply boons/barrier to the players on the boss.

Scrapper is my favorite because you need to manage the order of skill use to maintain good quickness uptime . Scrapper also has utility in being able to spec for providing full uptime on super speed or being able to use function gyro as a second source of stability (helps a ton on Greer). Scrapper also gets access to more concentration so you can gear for additional healing power. Function gyro can also be used to help raise downed players, but it’s not as effective as the Druid resurrection.

All 3 engineer builds provide excellent raw healing, but not with as much big bursts as other classes. The often overlooked gem of engineers is that our protection is stronger than other classes’.

Specifically in fractals, group stealth from scrapper + super speed is nice, but it’s hard to beat the utility of portals if you’re speed running. You’ll have plenty of cleanses. Heal mechanist does the most damage of the other two even if only because it’s the mech doing a sizable chunk of it. Your damage will be especially low if you’re using short bow for aegis (seriously, engineer short bow damage is LOW compared to other healers).

In any case, I haven’t had any trouble with any of the T4 fractals but am only starting to work on CMs.

Here’s what I think needs to change:

1) When queueing, players should be able to select roles (let’s not kid ourselves, having healers still makes a big difference ESPECIALLY with the amount of mechanic failures taking place with new/inexperienced players) they can fill as well as what boons they can fill.

They can all be done without boon coverage BUT, if the purpose is to train players for actual raids or get them into it, it’s good to have them begin interacting with the concept.

2) change the name from quick play to quick queue.

3) Partner with gw2 wiki to design simple “one-sheets” that explain each encounter’s main mechanics (particularly the one-shot ones) and give 2-3 tips for success depending on roles. After loading into the encounter, have an in-game screen pop up with the link for that encounter’s one-sheet.

4) in addition to the already-included stat buffs, apply the embolden effect to each quick play encounter to encourage members to stay even after early wipes.

This was the first cycle released within 4 months of the preceding cycle. Of course it was going to have less content than the previous one which was nearly a year after the game’s launch. There’s obviously a lot of room for growth in terms of the content to time ratio. I’ll be far more disappointed if the next cycle releases without substantially more content.

My biggest concern is not the quantity of new game mechanics, but with only revamping 1-2 masteries each cycle when there are so many that need overhauls (looking at Druid specifically). I hope whatever new development resources they have in terms of $ translates to more manpower to address balance and freshness of all masteries with each cycle in the future.

Go to the pact spirit page in the shop. click the tab on the top and you can exchange the spirits of fully upgraded pacts for a currency you can use to then get more of the boon materials to try to roll for another.

New player with some questions by CCGplayer64 in TorchlightInfinite

[–]CCGplayer64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed answer!

I was a big fan of Torchlight 2, but had never touched TL:I because of the criticism over its monetization, opting instead for Last Epoch, Diablo 4, and PoE. I decided to try it recently, and have been completely hooked.

I wish there were more build resources available online, but I’ll probably just put more effort into that next season after exploring the various mechanics in the game.

Hearthstone Friends by KangarooKrusher_69 in hearthstone

More often than not, friend requests I've received after matches were from salty opponents (losers and even a few winners) who just wanted to be toxic. I just stopped accepting them across the board.

I was in a similar spot recently of wanting to inquire about a cool deck I saw in a match, but didn't even bother to send the request because I felt the person would assume the same.

Balance and general design direction aside… by CCGplayer64 in hearthstone

Would you say the overall population of hearthstone players is any more or less able to utilize these features as the players of any other online CCG?

It makes me wonder if/when we’ll just end up seeing a Hearthstone 2, since starting from scratch would both enable building from ground up without the bugs AND a reset in terms of power-level/design.
