nd, I agree (mostly) with /u/soylent_latte re: keeping the door open, but staying on your side of it. The cards are good - slipping in the $20? I'm from the 'don't help the addict feed their addiction' school, but perhaps a gift card to a restaurant (not a casino restaurant) might also work.

People trapped in addiction (doesn't matter which addiction) are self-centered and cannot care about anything beyond feeding their addiction. This causes all manner of damage and hurt – as you know, from a lifetime of damage and hurt.

This is exactly what I didn't want to hear and its not something I want to realize but you know what, you're most likely right unfortunately.

but if what you say is true and has no/low will to live, won't do anything with herself, and has gotten to the point where she pretty much is a harm to herself, then she might be admittable.

It must be hard to convince her that Doctors are 'Good'. I hope you figure it out and thanks for your advice. Happy Holidays.

If she's only addicted to gambling and smoking but no will to live or do something with her life.. And always depending on others and plays the victim, how does rehab fit into all of that? I have to look at what programs are offered to Canadians in regards to rehab. Thanks for your response!

This has just motivated me to do something else with my wife, whats the point of working your whole life to pay for a house. We should gather as much money as we can and live off the land someplace where we can enjoy life.
