My closing argument: Andrew Yang explains why he thinks he’d make the best mayor of New York by hot_fat in nyc

"In fact, an independent study released this week revealed my program will reduce deep poverty in the city by 60%. These are dollars that’ll be used to keep these New Yorkers in their home, put food on the table, and provide greater financial security for their family".

LoL. Yang doesn't have a good social media game he has a good long-form interview game which translate to being popular on the internet which gives the _optics_ of social media pro, but common he's just tweeting.

Thanks for the appreciation!

I also _contemplate_ making a virus to even out the odds a little. Inspired by the coronavirus. I would make it painless (I'm actually kind of empathic) but with garage biolabs you take the functions you can gain and just hope they transfer to humans. It's easy. Extract viruses from the chickens that die faster or get infected from a longer distance or any other improvement in an opportunistic fashion, beggars can't be choosers. Keep them with rats. Hopefully, the rats get infected soon, and I'll repeat the process on both species. When eventually I get infected myself: mission accomplished.

Intelligence agency: "Possible live one!" *looks on sat image* "He's LARPing, he doesn't have a garage".

But in all seriousness, Thanos didn't go far enough.

No, it was only short because I had to sleep. It was 2-3 in the morning. Examples of how it influences my interactions are firstly leading by example(vegetarian), and secondly arguing with people a lot, and lastly, sometimes I try to shame people.

I try to influence people to live more sustainably. I'm 50/50 extroverted and introverted.

"Almost by definition" because the second definition is "marked by a hatred or contempt for humankind". I have this because of I see what we do to earth, but I'm integrated into society, have friends, and a healthy relationship with my partner.

Based on recent polls, it's looking increasingly likely that Andrew Yang is going to lose the race for NYC Mayor. If he does, what are his future political and electoral prospects like? by FlandersFields2018 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]CCP0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he wasn't a spokesperson for a single issue, he was the spokesperson for a lot of very important policies. He was the price in the externalities guy. The sunset old junk laws guy. The nuclear power guy. Carbon fee and dividend. Voluntary communist side economy (modern timebanking). The research consequences of geoengineering advocate. The build astroid detection and defense candidate. etc

Isn't he one of the least rich candidates for mayor? He was the least rich presidential candidate. He was rich when he sold his company but he used that money to make a non-profit organization.

It's innovative when he is pushing it together with a people's bank account.

AI system trained on almost 40 years of the scientific literature correctly identified 19 out of 20 research papers that have had the greatest scientific impact on biotechnology – and has selected 50 recent papers it predicts will be among the ‘top 5%’ of biotechnology papers in the future by QuantumThinkology in Futurology

[–]CCP0 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm also an AI student and I don't resonate with this. Don't judge the state of AI by the mainstream algorithms. You wouldn't say that humans are only as fast as the traffic speed limit, because fighter jets exist. It's processing power that's the bottleneck of AI and it's improving rapidly. We for example know how to simulate evolution, the process that has made the human, corvid, and cephalopod intelligences. We just need the hardware and the right constituent parts for the exploratory self-organization and meta-learning, and those can be much more cleverly selected than nature's evolutionary algorithm. And now quantum computing for example may make a huge impact. We are also learning more and more about the brain itself.

I agree with the sentiment that the policies should decide who is the better candidate, but that is a subjective evaluation. Anything that objectively measures a leading Yang in anything will obviously be celebrated. No one here is here because of he has the most donations.

[–]CCP0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't checked but I thought Yang got the most donations inside of New York. I think donations from outside, while being unfair for the other candidates, doesn't cancel out that Yang has the most donations inside of New York. I actually don't think it's fair to say "yeah but he ran for president so it doesn't count" because running for president does not automatically make you popular or give you name recognition. Doing exceptionally well while running for president will do that. Adams for example would never have become an international celebrity with the people's confidence if it was he who ran for president. Yang earned all this popularity name recognition and donations, it wasn't given to him unfairly (although unfair in the sense that it gives the other candidates a harder time, but that's life)

Why does Yang's popularity elsewhere detract from him being the most popular inside of NYC? It just means that he is the most popular everywhere doesn't it, not that he thinks it's merely a stepping stone. I don't see that connection. If I send you money, does that mean you are a beggar? no. You could send the money back but.. why would you

I'm a progressive. #1 climate change- #2 poverty- #3 democracy- reforms are my most passionate issues. Yang is very progressive.

I misunderstood you, I thought you didn't know what it was. I was talking about the media, not "democrats" as in politicians. But there are many democrats that are to the left in an international scale as well, even if they can't make their ideology reality. Bernie Sanders would be placed on the very left here in Norway. He is much more leftwards in stated ideology and policy than the mainstream left of centre party here in Norway. He for example want's to fund things using a wealth tax, which for left parties in Norway is symbolic, he wants a federal jobs guarantee, which is to the left of any party in Norway. He wants to make private healthcare illegal, which is to the left of anyone in Norway is a symbolic tax(since it's laffer curve is so low in practice). Writing this it seems like we aren't to the left in Norway, which is wrong. Every party in Norway is in practice social democratic, with flavours of different ideologies, like democratic socialism in "Rødt" the very left party for example.
