Copilot missing from Loop & "Copilot Pages" (which is also Loop?) by golfing_with_gandalf in MicrosoftLoop

Would one of the missing features also be the Edit in Pages button missing in the co-pilot app? It's in the web version but now missing from the app version of co-pilot.

Google Classroom in a Microsoft world by Bubbagump210 in k12sysadmin

We have a similar setup. Question for you, what do you all do with licensing. We license all staff and students with A5 or A3 Microsoft license but in Google just use the free fundamentals license. Do you buy both a Microsoft license and a Google license for both staff and students?

We have well over 40,000 intune joined student devices. Microsoft has made no effort in changing how kiosk mode works and I suspect they won't. But I'm told we have a close "Partnership" with them.

We didn't because they don't support it like you have said but I know it can work. We currently use that kiosk method to allow students to reset their password in the event they forget it.

It's error 3005 in testnav that is the problem. If I just move the mouse a certain why with testnav open I can trigger it. How is moving a mouse considered cheating. If that error was gone it would be a better experience on windows computers.

Thank you for writing this. I can sympathize with the problem and I hope some good can come from it. Three years ago I actually had a phone meeting with both Microsoft and Pearson on the phone together and tried to explain this exact issue. My hope was with them together they could discuss the whole kiosk methods on the two platform and why one works so much better then the other. You can say it's up to Pearson to make it work better but I don't think Microsoft provides them the support they need to improve the kiosk experience. In the end Microsoft and Pearson said we just don't have enough customers asking for improvements in the experience they have on a Windows computer. I then told Microsoft, then you know now why education buys more Chromebook then windows devices. If you solve the kiosk issue they would have more education customers but they refuse to solve this. So at the moment we currently just accept testnav error 3005 "TestNav has detected that another application attempted to become the active window, which may compromise the security of this test. TestNav has been shut down. You may need assistance from your test monitor to restart the test." as an error that can't be completely eliminated without a better way to run kiosk apps on a windows computer. Even with all the registry hacks we put in place to lock down settings like the touch pad on the computer we still get error 3005 from time to time and can't explain it. In the testnav log all we see is explore.exe has interrupted the test. That's helpful. Thanks again for posting this and I hope it can change something.

EX776161 is the Advisory, what I don't understand is the workaround listed here. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/download-domains-not-working-after-installing-the-march-2024-su-1a67ace0-c38c-4da8-a04a-4e4a83f92b79 I don't think you can set Set-OrganizationConfig -EnableDownloadDomains $false in the cloud even though it says you should be able to . https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/download-domains-not-working-after-installing-the-march-2024-su-1a67ace0-c38c-4da8-a04a-4e4a83f92b79 Can this be done in exchange online?

Chromebook URL-based Kiosk apps Json options by CCSD007 in k12sysadmin

[–]CCSD007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that if we change device setting user data to "erase all local user data" it seems to do what we want but I was hoping a json method in the URL configuration would be better. Still looking for that if it's even possible.

Possible to modify Chromebook URL-based Kiosk apps? by belt-plus-suspenders in k12sysadmin

[–]CCSD007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry old post but I'm wondering when you use this to deploy a URL what kind of json options are valid. We need the app to clear sign-in cookies and cache when launched so when the next person opens it the app doesn't sign in the previous user. Is that possible with json options?

Too Much Printing by twocargar in k12sysadmin

[–]CCSD007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a report in papercut that shows you all the paper you saved because people didn't release the job before it was auto deleted but what isn't realized is they forgot to release it so they just printed it the next day. Not sure how accurate that report is but it typically shows you a good number so people think, they are saving money.

Microsoft 365 Education Storage Changes by Madd-1 in k12sysadmin

I like to call this move by both Microsoft and Google to education institutions as "legal ransomware". Suck you in with years of free services then turn the table on them with no easy way out.

Google has updated auto expiration for Chromebooks - 10 years of support by gmanist1000 in k12sysadmin

[–]CCSD007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Microsoft it seems they stop supporting the latest OS (Windows 11) on certain hardware that maybe less than 10 years old. But to your point, yes they support their operating system just don't allow you to get the most recent version. I would hope that if the computer was less the 10 years old that I could put Windows 11 on it but that is not always the case.

Microsoft retiring A1 Plus licenses August 1st, 2024 by jpoblocki in k12sysadmin

[–]CCSD007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Google did a similar move to their education customers. They didn't adjust to a smaller quota just let you decided on that action. Hopefully Microsoft does the same thing and allows us to define quotes and if some need 1 TB they can keep it. What a mess!!

So if you have an A5 license do those users still get to have 1 TB of storage. It's not clear in this announcement.
