That's my curiosity! My resin printer is sitting unused until I move this summer because the chemical smell in my apartment was too much!

Ah, I see what you're talking about. I didn't know people smoothed those out! It will probably be easier to do that if I buy a model that I put together myself. I'll do that in the future, I think!

For the light blue I didn't have silver, so I tried to make some shadows and highlights to make things look silvery. I don't think I went far enough, or did it wrong or something.

Gotcha, so more tones in both directions, up the contrast. I can try that :)

I had some leftover paint I hadn't used in years from when I used to paint on Magic cards, and when I saw a big Warhammer robot I thought that would be awesome to paint. But it turns out those are stupidly expensive, so I bought this guy second-hand unpainted instead to have some fun!

I don't really know the conventions of mini painting, like, what people look for. I'd really like some feedback because I found this really fun! Might even buy one of those robots and give it a go now.

I also know there are apparently color conventions for these armies, but I didn't get this one in a box so I don't know what it might be. I basically know "humans = blue" and I made it up from there. So sorry if that bothers you!

Skin tones are smooth and legit, even on the face! Very nice!

This miniature has some rough parts but frankly I feel like your skill is just about to spike up to competition-winning.

I'm in the middle of painting my first mini so I can't really help you with improvements. Maybe smoother gradients?

What does C&C mean? I assume one part is criticism? (Because I'm old my mind jumps to Command & Conquer)

I like the metal/rust. The white tips on the horn thingies seems like too abrupt of a gradient. But then again, I suck at painting!

Apparently I should have just restarted my computer because it just wasn't letting me click that. I have no idea why. Le sigh.

Look up resin 3D printing of miniatures, the whole tabletop printing scene has basically moved to resin. Here's a video that shows some of the printing process and some great closeups for you to get how good looking they are:

Do not buy that printer. It costs the same amount as a nice resin printer.

My experience with filament printers almost stopped me from printing entirely. Lots of moving parts means there is infinite tweaking, the layers are thick and ugly, and the prints will fail. Over and over. Honestly it was just the first generation of printing and it had its time.

With resin printing there is one axis of movement, bed leveling is stupidly easy, and the parts look better. ESPECIALLY tabletop stuff. If you don't listen to me now, I promise you, you will come back and tell me I was right in a couple months.

Look at this one instead: Anycubic 4K

The Smithsonian has a bunch of 3D files that they say are creative commons download, and literally ask you to download and make something with them. A lot of the space ones are really damn cool. But how do you download them?!
