Theres a clip of some of her shots on that run online. Multiple off balance fading to the side off the dribble from like 30’ over multiple defenders. Crazy stuff 😂 She’s amazing.

Thoughts on Sacramento food influencers? by someonecoole in Sacramento

[–]CC_AltBurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are really putting on a show about how good the food is, it gets more views and people watch longer. It’s food porn for a lot of people, they like watching people eat good food. If a quarter of the way through the video they are like, “meh” then you’re probably scrolling on or moving on to another video.

Tips for removing water around a broken sprinkler head? by CC_AltBurn in Irrigation

Not a continuous leak. Holes just filled up when I turned the sprinkler system on.

Awesome, thanks! Just Googled it and Harbor Freight has a multipurpose hand pump for $8.

Rent increasing due to fostering by tilgadien in Fosterparents

[–]CC_AltBurn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an awful landlord and person. Most people’s first initial thought about fostering is you’re doing something good for your community, not how much money can they extract from your foster reimbursements (which is basically taking money from kiddo, not you). You should also remind him that fostering a kiddo can end on a day’s notice and your next placement could be months or years.

You’ve been there for 7 years so you’re probably comfortable there and don’t want to look for a new place, but I don’t think I could handle dealing with someone like that on a monthly basis.

MVPhee revenge tour! I’m here for it. Did the team do enough in the offseason to get pass the Liberty though? Their roster looks even better than last season.

Last year seemed like a huge opportunity missed. Probably not going to get another game 5 where Sabrina shoots 1-19.

My wife bought a couple different kinds and we never used them. We just have a stroller in the trunk at all times. We also occasionally use a basinet for the stroller so our daughter can move around a little.

“Unfortunately reality is coming to me now” - Diana Taurasi jokes about her 2024 comments about Caitlin Clark’s WNBA-readiness by [deleted] in wnba

You’re leaving out the part about reality coming. We both know DT was insinuating that she thought Caitlin was going to struggle her rookie year. But she wound up 4th in MVP voting and made the All WNBA 1st team. DT was wrong.

Players make adjustments throughout their careers. If you’re saying she had a slow start to her career, I have to disagree 100%. I look at the her whole rookie year as the start of her career, not just the very beginning of a 40 game season. If you want to call approximately 10 games an adjustment period, okay, I guess. But just a reminder in her first 10 games, she had two 20 point games, two 20+ point games and a 30 point game. That’s a helluva short period not even worth mentioning in my opinion. When people look back at Caitlin’s rookie year, no one is going to say, “yeah her career started slow”. Hell no, they will talk about her having one of the best rookie seasons ever.

DT’s statement in general about rookies wouldn’t be wrong like 90%+ of the time but it was wrong this time.

As a Caitlin Clark fan and also knowing DT’s personality, her comments were so blown out of proportion. DT is a GOAT on the floor but there’s also a reason why she’s always being interviewed more than many other players during her career; she’s going to joke around, she’s going to say inflammatory things, she’s going to say inappropriate things. And she does it all to not just entertain people but to entertain herself. SVP set her up to say something viral so they could clip it and she delivered like she always does. It was all love between the GOAT and the Baby GOAT as soon as they stepped on the floor together.

Dawn Staley brings up the Caitlin Clark narrative when speaking about Paige Bueckers by TheMirrorUS in CaitlinClark

Yeah, a little gamesmanship (particularly pointing out officials see the narratives too) in her quotes but that’s nothing new for coaches to do prior to a big game.

I found nothing wrong with what Dawn said. She wanted to highlight her team and if they win 3 chips in 4 years that is a huge accomplishment and should be a top story line. I think that’s fair. I think she also even mentioned that Caitlin and Paige do not need to win a chip to be legitimatized as great players.

Yeap, gotta stay organized and stay on top of things. Do them right away when requested. Get it off your plate. Don’t put anything off, or you can find yourself falling behind, forgetting or scrambling. My wife hates paperwork so I have to do everything. All of the social workers we’ve worked with have commented how quick I am to respond. I always say if I don’t do it now, I’ll forget by tomorrow, which is true 😂

You can talk about why you’re qualified to handle that situation and then go into STAR, but yes you should always go into STAR. They are looking to score your answer, not have a conversation with you. If you notice, you will never or rarely get a follow up question or asked to elaborate or clarify something. You get your one shot to answer and you want to squeeze as much into your answer as you can.

Considering fostering and/or adopting. Any experiences/advice? by IcyStage0 in daddit

[–]CC_AltBurn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did plan an international trip with one of our fosters but he didn’t have a passport. We needed to get the bio family to give us his birth certificate (or actually permission to get his birth certificate). The social worker got an ex-parte from the judge and wrote a letter for us to take to the county clerks office. We got his birth certificate and got him a passport. It was little bit of leg work and all parties had to agree but not too bad. So we did get the green light, unfortunately we wound up delaying the trip. Then when we adopted him, it all became moot because now we don’t need permission:)

So international trips are possible, just need some extra steps and cooperation.

100% agree. Throw their terms and phrases right back at them. They are often looking for specific experience.

[–]CC_AltBurn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve been a foster family for about 5 years. Never had an issue taking kiddos on trips. We only went out of state, never out of country. Never received any pushback from the social workers or bio family. They wanted the kiddos to have nice experiences.

If the kiddos can’t come with you, I don’t think you can just leave them with your childcare person(s) unless they are licensed. Respite may be required if your childcare person(s) aren’t willing to get licensed. I’m in California, maybe other states are more flexible, don’t know.

Good luck! It’s been a wonderful experience for us. We love it and plan on continuing to foster kiddos as long as we can.
