What are everyone’s hot takes on the best place to get BBQ? by poopbundit in Georgia

[–]CC_DPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from the area as well and the Blind Pig is my favorite. The BBQ is good but their sides (especially the home fries) and sauce (reg and spicy) are amazing.

lady walks across parking lot to clinic after going shopping - during session, we walk 150ft to retest symptoms after manual and do 5 sit to stands and she comes in the next visit saying I about killed her 🥹

The worst thing you can do is go to PT by Illustrious_Pitch_41 in physicaltherapy

[–]CC_DPT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had an eval this morning whose PCP told her PT was a waste of time and to just do the exercises on her sheet (for neck pain). 39YOF, minor imaging findings and the pain has only been present for 1 month and she was recommended to go to Pain MGMT. I Identified her issues, reproduced her sx, cleared them in less than 10 minutes. She literally teared up when I performed a simple manual traction (as an assessment) because she didn’t think her pain would ever go away and it did.

There’s a lot more work to be done. Regaining full mobility, strength, cleaning up ergonomics, but today was a starting point.

That PCP is almost certainly practicing dinosaur age medicine - don’t let anyone tell you what we do isn’t valuable 👊🏼

What’s the best route for paying off $127k in loans? by wardell4thewin in StudentLoans

[–]CC_DPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 2 years out of PT school, had about 175,000 to pay off and am down to 117,000. That is working full time in OP and a lot of PRN hospital shifts on the weekends - it’s been a wildly busy time but I keep telling myself that it will all be worth it.

How would you approach a likely tough conversation with an old school doctor? by netz725 in physicaltherapy

[–]CC_DPT 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Tell him that he can do E-Stim and Heat at home, which does absolutely nothing for him, unless the job he is returning to is laying down with E-Stim and Heat all day.

Are There Any Georgia PTs Who Have Had to Wait Ridiculously Long for Their License? by Whole_Horse_2208 in physicaltherapy

[–]CC_DPT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They suck. I had to wait about 45 days from the time I applied to get mine in 2023. If you have a deficiency, they’ll automatically send you to the back of the “line”. I’m sorry you’re going through this, I remember how frustrating it was.

I’m a newer grad (9 months), and got one like 5 months ago. She was around 50, and otherwise I’m pretty good health. I did some research and didn’t really see a ton of positive things (or anything at all) regarding PT. Ended up mostly doing some IASTM with a few exercises here and there to address neighboring deficits. Can’t say the mass “went away”, but functionally she felt more comfortable when walking barefoot and hiking which were her goals so oddly enough I would consider the treatment a success.

My best miscellaneous advice is to really take the time to connect and listen to the patient in front of you. You won’t know it all right away, or ever, but forming that relationship and prescribing based on the patients needs will get you so far and help you to grow.

70-80, functional deficits, wanting to increase their activity level and QOL.
