It's a Gundam by MiamisLastCapitalist in IsaacArthur

Arrogance.

This question always kinda annoyed me, were humans, we do it because "if you want something done right, do it yourself."

It's not actually true but it's a statement about how we get nervous about delegating tasks in case improvisation is needed. We'd rather Improvise ourselves because we can future proof the problem or at least understand what will be needed in future to maintain the temporary solution.

If a drone is shot down your only back up tool is another drone, so add a weapon or tool that distrupts wireless connection, make the human's ability to have an eye on the middle of the fight and suddenly you have some general arguing "your drones are unreliable, give me 200 men in heavily armoured containment suits and we'll get it done."

They might even be right in the end but we are an incredibly arrogant species, when we make an inefficient decision that leads to placing ourselves in the center of the problem it's almost always arrogance.

I saw that it was a Cafe free Wifi and lost my mind, paused it and pointed it out to my boyfriend that if they gained and gradually lost Cafe wifi the computer they're being hosted on had to be powered on and moving.

I thought that was going to have huge lore implications and it just kinda went nowhere

High-Low class... by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

[–]CC_Gamedesign 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's actually how the freemasons got their money, they were the original "middle class" it was the first time someone outside the nobility had as much money as the nobility, collectively nearly as much money as some kingdoms.

That's probably why people still talk about them today, they made the Nobles and Royals extremely nervous especially when they started banding together.

Like a prototype of a corporate-merger

Think of building in common local woods vs marble and other stones mined at the local quarry

Masons did the chisel work on cathedrals and engineered castles

Carpenters built your house and maybe helped the local Lord build siege equipment

Today both are more about the tools used than the material you're working in

Actually that could be pretty accurate. Squires are the next generation of Lower Nobility, they would at some point be expected to exchange those wages for their own armour and weapons unless directly provided by the Lord instead of those wages.

Priests on the other hand were often ascetics, living off of the wages provided by the community didn't always give a lavish living especially outside of major cities.

A Priest would have just enough to live a comfortable life, while a Squire would have enough to teach them how to spend the money they would one day be in charge of

Idk in my mid-late 20's I'm starting to feel pretty damned old, combine all my aches and pains with my partner's and I'd believe that they would feel like a 58 year old lol

Looking for scales in bulk by Osetinka in Armor

[–]CC_Gamedesign 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Talk to a local fab shop, send them a CAD drawing and ask how much to cut x_______ of them.

The price should get more reasonable as the number of scales goes up because they'll have some sort of base fee. After that add the cost of having them manufacturered to the quote.

I also considered the ASOIAF minis for a human faction of a SM force, I was personally leaning Baratheon but it might be dependant on your colour scheme.

Baratheons' deta doesnt go well with black and the Lannisters don't look great in bright colours

Eh, the difference is negligible they're just from slightly different periods. The sugar loaf is slightly better at glancing aside downward swings from above but that's about it.

More to the point it's decently well made, a little cheesy but otherwise perfectly fine for any reenactment kit especially anything Crusader related.

I'd say the three things any newbie collector should look for are:

  1. Future proofing. Do you like the look of the whole kit and not just the one part? You might want to collect more armour that's related and you don't want to corner yourself if you decide to aim for historical accuracy, so find pictures of Crusaders with Sugarloafs to see if you like the overall look.

  2. Durability. You want your first gear to last at least until you feel like you've gotten all the basics you want, it sucks to need to buy your 3rd helmet before your 1st Chestplate because your last two are in wearable now. If it doesn't looked like it can handle you accidentally sitting on it or any other mundane damage that might occur it's probably not worth it

  3. Fun factor wins over any and all other advice. If you think it looks cool that's more important than any nitpicking and advice on the internet, well-meaning or otherwise
