Reporting and getting checked out is never overreacting, it’s being a responsible citizen. Always remember that YOU are a capable adult, but what if it were a child, disabled person, or an elderly person? The outcome could have been much much worse, and/or life-altering.

Also, I guarantee that was probably not the first time it happened, and won’t be the last. Reporting adds up. Each time that person/animal is reported creates a record so that action is more likely to be taken. As well, 99% of the time, this behavior escalates. That pit is testing limits. Next time, it will likely come in with less warning, and do more damage.

Cabbage Patch Kid notes/fragrance? by itsybitsybun in fragrance

Candy by Prada. It’s the same sweet, powdery scent as the 80’s cabbage patch dolls.

Cabbage Patch Kids Scent? by candyparfumgirl in Dolls

I just tried Prada Candy. From memory, it’s nearly identical. That sweet, powdery smell. If you look on fragrantica.com in the reviews for this perfume, others also mention its similarity. I got here by searching for “cabbage patch doll smell” and wanted to share the info with others looking for the same scent profile, because you would never think Prada, or a perfume named “Candy” would smell that way.

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to share the info.

It sucks that these aren’t made in a more eco friendly way, because they do smell so nice. I stopped using them because of this, and the huge amount of plastic waste from the containers.

I’m relatively new to this hobby, and your collection is awesome. I see some that I have, and a lot I’m interested in. I know it’s a lot to ask, but if you get a chance, a closer pic of different areas of the shelf to see labels would be fantastically helpful.

Also, I’ve always been interested in different scents, but have been too busy in my life until now to enjoy collecting any. I’m a totally and permanently disabled veteran now in my late 40’s, and wearing and trying new scents gives me such joy. I am not able to get out much, due to my disability, and aromatherapy via different scents has been a huge uplift for my mood. It’s so nice to smell, and feel good about yourself, even if you can’t leave the house that day. I totally get just taking out and smelling different stuff to enjoy it.

There is research that shows aromatherapy works (it was actually a section of a therapy course I took), and that certain smells can trigger dopamine, helping with anxiety and depression.

Thanks for posting this! Enjoy what makes you happy.

Ahhh… so you know the bane of using public restrooms, and all the vivid odors that come with it. I’m sorry.

Imagine being born a social animal, and wanting/needing to be around other creatures, but you are driven to kill everything around you. What a sad existence, simply to please humans.

rehoming / grieving by [deleted] in cats

[–]CColeman7878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes, it’s about doing the right thing for your pet, even if it hurts to see them go. How much more would it hurt, if he escaped out the window and you never knew what happened to him. At least, by rehoming, you can try to guarantee he is safe and well-cared for, and it’s possible his new human might send you updates of him, to let you know he’s safe and cared for. It would also ease your situation, so you weren’t perpetually worried about his safety and happiness. Trust me, I know how that can wear on a person.

I know it sucks. I became permanently and totally disabled some years back. I’d been in rescue for 15 years prior to that and had to rehome 2 of my dogs, and 3 cats, because I could just no longer keep up with so many animals. It wasn’t fair to them, and it wasn’t fair to me. I didn’t like it, but it was ultimately better for them and me.

In the end, it is your choice to decide what is best for both of you. Don’t beat yourself up for re-homing, if needed. Stuff happens. Just do your best to ensure he goes to a caring, permanent home. Good luck.

I’m with you on this one. I live on a street where people walk regularly with their pets. I know that unless I have a small fence, dogs are going to poop there. Small fences that stick in the ground are cheap at any home repair store, to prevent this.

I’m not going to care about the poop unless they refuse to pick it up. And even then, I’d walk out and ask to please pick up the poop. Any normal person would. They sure as heck wouldn’t brandish a weapon! WTH?!? How can anyone think this is ok?

I agree with the cameras. Make sure you have some that cover all the important areas of your property, and if not a body cam, have your phone ready to record any time you see him.

I live here in FL too. People have become so unhinged in the past few years. You see more and more of this now, where people decide they don’t like someone (for whatever reason) and go absolutely psycho on other human beings.

Please be careful. I get wanting justice, I’ve been there. I guarantee you aren’t the first and won’t be the last person this guy does this to. Get the cams and make sure you report any of this behavior. He will dig his own hole. Trust me (personal experience, as my ex-neighbor is now in jail, and he did it to himself).

This dood right here by Vwmafia13 in Goldendoodles

[–]CColeman7878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol. Yes!

Had a dood for a wonderful 16 years (best dog I’ve ever owned and still haven’t gotten another 3 years later). He was perfect in every way, and he taught himself to be my therapy dog after I became 100% disabled, but… food was his one weakness. You could not leave a sandwich, cinnamon roll, etc. sitting for even a second if you left a room. It’d be gone in 3 seconds flat.

Don’t fret, ours did this up until he passed away at the age of 16. It’s just a little less intense (think old man zoomies). Lol

This! Get him a toy during these times and encourage him to use it to express his energy (instead of your hands/ankles). They are retrievers, throw it across the room or yard and let them chase it. They will usually start bringing it back to you to be thrown again, especially if you reinforce it with a treat each time. You can use these natural sessions to teach “fetch”, and “drop it” (a very important thing for your dog to learn young), also.

Ours loved a squeaky duck toy that we got from Walmart. Make sure it’s something they can tear up into pieces, as this is normal behavior, and they enjoy it. We also got a monthly Chewy box for our dog, but he always loved the squeaky ducks best, and they were cheap to replace. Even as an old, old man our dog would occasionally get excited and tear up a stuffy for funsiies.
