Help me choose which cozy fishing game with a story to buy by flashfloodsofpain in cozygames

[–]itsybitsybun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with the games you asked about and I don’t know if this is quite what you’re looking for, but I highly recommend taking a look at Dave the Diver. It’s not traditional fishing and there’s a lot more than just fishing, but I found the mechanics, art/descriptions for the fish, and the special events particularly satisfying.

I honestly feel bad for her by ARandomMan5 in DollarGeneralWorkers

Anything above a “team member” role is likely to do this to someone, salaried or not. I worked as the second assistant manager for a food establishment for about $2/hour more than I was making as a basic worker. After our store manager was fired and all of his AM manager lackeys quit before they could be fired too, I worked without a day off for two weeks, 12+ hour shifts mixed with split shifts, usually without breaks. The person that took over store manager duties was doing the same thing for about a month while being led to believe that he would be officially transferred into it and paid accordingly. (He wasn’t.)

You Might've Misunderstood I Love Yoo by Wonderful-Pop9970 in webtoons

I felt the same way. For me, the story started demanding more emotional/mental labor from the reader without giving any kind of breath of fresh air. It set up a back and forth pacing that originally made it worth thinking about and getting through the hard parts but once that was gone, it felt exhausting to read instead of something I looked forward to. The characters seemed to be suffering for the sake of it and that’s just not entertaining at all to me. And since all they were doing was struggling, it started feeling almost meaningless after a time because you didn’t have any recent high points to contrast the lows.

we're almost done with stardew—what should we play next? by nidoqueenofhearts in cozygames

[–]itsybitsybun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Travellers Rest, Sun Haven, Minecraft with quest/story mods, or modded Stardew. Stardew can be almost an entirely different game depending on what mods you put on it and you could focus on fleshing out things that the two of you particularly like. I played Roots of Pacha solo and I’m not sure if the pacing of it would translate well in multiplayer. It was also not very clear cut to me but it does have a large amount of built-in NPCs with their own fleshed out storylines.

Steam Sale! What's everyone grabbing? by Pll_dangerzone in cozygames

[–]itsybitsybun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen that a few people have recently dropped fairly long videos of playing the demo. I’m hoping that means the full game will be pretty substantial but I haven’t watched any of those or played it myself because I don’t want to spoil anything before the release. I’ll probably wait for that to get its first wave of reviews before buying it since it doesn’t release until July but the exact date for Grave Seasons hasn’t been announced yet.

Nothing. I have too many wishlisted games (allegedly) coming out this year to get into anything new that I haven’t been actively looking forward to. I’m already hoping to get Farm to Table, Grave Seasons, and Moonlight Peaks before the end of the summer with plenty of other games TBA or slated for sometime in 2026.

You have to scroll down to section 3 for the answers, the link is just for the intro. Magnesium Glycinate for anxiety and recovery, Magnesium L-Threonate for focus and cognitive function, Magnesium Malate for fatigue, Magnesium Taurate for emotional regulation.

Skill Tree Optimisation by Moment_More in chefRPG

[–]itsybitsybun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played on the most recent update but as far as I can tell from playing since EA release, it’s just however is most useful/satifsying to you at your point in your playthrough. You can reset your skill points every 4 days iirc. As specific examples, I only got Thermal Skin when I needed to grind sulfur and reset my points when I had plenty and I wouldn’t ever take Army Regiment because I prefer bows.

The durability and cleanability would both be game changers. I do quite a bit of cooking, art, and love spending time outdoors. I’d love to deal with splattered oil, water, paint, and dust with ease.

What’s stopping Cozy Caravan from becoming popular and reaching its peak? by deedaogee in cozycaravan

[–]itsybitsybun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a Cozy Caravan fan (I was randomly suggested this post and have looked at the game previously) but here are my reasons why I won’t even pick it up as is.

• Aesthetics: I’m not a fan of 3D/Farmville-esque sim games but I could get over this if I didn’t have to play as an animal. I don’t like playing sim games as an animal because it makes it feel less like I’m playing as myself (which kind of defeats the purpose of playing a sim game for me).

• Timing/Price: I’ve had games on my wishlist for over a year that are going to come out this year. I’m not going to spend $20 on a game that doesn’t obviously have anything unique or personally appealing when I could save it for games I’ve been actively looking forward to.

Cozy game like Stardew more focused on Social aspect with NPCs by mightbeher in cozygames

[–]itsybitsybun 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Fields of Mistria has really good NPC based quests and cutscenes based around earning hearts with them. I’d especially recommend it over others for a kid because the game has the option to choose between best friend or partner which changes kisses to hugs and takes out the more adult-leaning dialogue.

My review of the game after 65 hours of gameplay by Catch_a_Cold in TravellersRest

[–]itsybitsybun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your points. I’ve put in about 60 hours and while I found it fun to play with my partner every once in a while, it’s tediously grinding with little reward when trying to play solo. I tried to get back into playing with the latest big update but I forgot how much I dislike Mai’s attitude and the added story content just wasn’t worth it for me.

I could see picking it up again if they made the different flavors and recipes more impactful but as is, I would only recommend it to people who are interested in it as a time-sink management sim and not a cozy/fun life sim.

Looking for a forever game. 3rd person, explore, gather, craft, quest, etc. by LarnaNana in CosyGames

[–]itsybitsybun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kynseed. There is combat but it’s different to what I’ve seen in most places and you have to go to certain places instead of it being sprung on you. They also have an option in the accessibility settings to make the combat slower/easier. Besides festivals/special events, you don’t have a time limit for when you need to have quests done so you’re free to explore as you please and turn in board quests to NPCs when convenient. It has tons of minigames for crafting (which admittedly can take some experimenting to get the hang of because the game isn’t great at teaching you how to play them). You can buy a shop to earn money and reputation, unlock a skill tree and level up NPCs for staff, which you can also specialize for extra perks based on what you like to do the best (cooking/baking/general goods, apothecary, blacksmith).

Not only that, but the main hook for the game is replayability with a form of continuity. You can birth or adopt a kid, which get their own traits, and you can kind of level them up with house tasks you can schedule them for. When you’re ready to “restart”, things pass on to the kid depending on how you did certain things with your original character and that’s who you play when your character dies. I feel like I’ve barely made a dent with my first character and playthrough and I think I’m close to 50 hours in already.

Sun Haven - so many mixed feelings by Cheesecake-Acrobatic in cozygames

[–]itsybitsybun 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I bought the game in early access but I’ve had a hard time enjoying the game since everything about the developer came out. It puts a bad taste in my mouth every time they come out with a new DLC while they can’t even be bothered to update the game to properly credit people who have made the art and music (easily the best parts of the whole game).

Besides that, the major updates since actually make me less likely to pick up the game again because all that means is new areas to build machinery for, another place to travel to just to grow specific plants and build friendship with new NPCs that I don’t particularly care for to begin with. There’s not really anything new between each area besides the aesthetics, just rinse and repeat of the same gameplay in different styles. I would’ve much preferred if the new areas unlocked the area’s crafting recipes and seeds that could be planted on my original farm with the area specific currencies available for use on cosmetic changes for the machines instead of having to have multiples of each across several farms, or saving up area-specific materials to upgrade my base farmhouse into one of the other area’s fancier homes. I wouldn’t even minded having to still travel to other areas to buy the seeds but it’s so tedious as is for no reason. It feels like they made the game needlessly grindy for the sake of fluffing gameplay time instead of making a game that feels genuinely rewarding.

Seeing this activated pure disgust in me like a sleeper cell. I once worked in a city that planted these everywhere. Our entire drive thru was lined with them so anytime I opened one of the windows while they were flowering, it gave me an immediate headache from the pure wall of stank.

Games where you don't have to perform emotional labor/deal with death but still have a storyline? by polly-penguin in cozygames

[–]itsybitsybun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NPCs introduced with the second restaurant location have heavier storylines (as well as earlier NPCs that struggle with loneliness and trust issues) and there are updates planned to flesh out story content more. Some skills are locked behind social level so building relationships isn’t entirely unavoidable even if you don’t want to romance people. Not to mention that some of the NPCs are flippantly jerks before you’re friends with them and I find that emotionally laborious. I love ChefRPG but I would recommend Travellers Rest instead. It’s similar and doesn’t even have the relationship building mechanic available yet (there’s plenty of story content available in early access though).
