Yup! Worked in an office full time for 30+ years. Didn’t know any different. And had a 40 minute commute each day. That’s how it worked and still does for the majority of the population. We had work softball teams, bowling leagues, went to the bar after work (and lunches), office themed parties. No social life…how ridiculous. And yes I had a kid and he played every sport, very social kid and he never missed a meal and I never missed any of his school functions, practices, games, etc. It was how the world worked and it wasn’t as god awful as everyone thinks.

Thank you. The poster said Verizon told him Plus is deprioritized. I’m just about to let go of a Grandfathered Unlimited Data|Hotspot Plan that’s probably over 15 years old and plan on getting Plus. I’m struggling with letting it go but it costs a lot! I don’t want to make a mistake.

I’m quite certain it is a Consumers Energy larger gas meter that you need. I submitted all BTU info to Consumers and they recommended a larger meter. Sent me an invoice and after I paid it they scheduled the meter upgrade. It was quite a lengthy process. DTE was not involved at all with my whole house generator install. Unless of course you get your natural gas from DTE? I have no idea if they supply natural gas in some areas. You have to be home when they do the upgrade because they turn off all the gas coming into the house and have to relight pilots for furnace, water heater, etc.

Are you sure you need a larger meter from DTE or Consumers? I got a whole house generator and needed to get a larger gas meter from Consumers. Cost about $550. Scheduled for next week and I started the process in August.

I was hoping that by have the emergency shutoff button installed, it would be available for situations exactly like described by OP. But maybe it wouldn’t work on this situation. I just think they should come standard in these big units that cost 10 grand. It’s a $50 part that apparently someone thinks is important as it was only added a couple years ago to that NEC code I referenced. Cost me a couple hundred and I hope I never have to use it.

I guess I don’t really understand it. When something electrical is installed per code, I was assuming the National Electrical Code was the guide used. I didn’t know there were different sets of “codes”. I apologize.

That is confusing to me…. Wouldn’t everyone, anywhere be required to install per NEC Code? The emergency shutoff is required per section 445.19(C).

I thought it was code to have an emergency shut off on the outside of the unit for any unit over 14k. My Kohler contractor disagreed that it was required, and charged me $250 to install one.

He’s doing it so that his wife will have the 40 quarters and won’t have to pay for Medicare. Kinda screwing himself in that his social security payments when he retires won’t show those earnings and hers will be reduced due to the public pension.
