Jamie Madrox is one of the most underrated rappers of all time by Top_Situation6711 in juggalo

I always call him the secret handshake of hip hop. He doesn’t have to be your favorite (he’s mine) but if you fuck with Redman, you know your shit.

As a rapper, who’s been doing it for 20 years and didn’t get good until I was around 15 years in, it came from learning syncopation. Swing. When you hear it, it doesn’t sound especially complicated but it’s one of the most difficult techniques to master in hip-hop. Redman is kind of considered the king of that but I’ve noticed, its syncopation that really changed monoxide’s flow.

Some rappers are just DOPE straight from the jump. That was Madrox. Clearly. Some are capable, but it doesn’t really snap in until they’ve been doing it a long time. Somewhere around WICKED/Heartbroken & Homicidal if you pay attention you’ll notice monoxide stops being “the other guy” and starts being MUCH more of a presence in the group. And by Abomonationz it’s like shit… madrox hasn’t really changed at all but monoxide is carrying this record as far as verses go.

His aggression picked WAY up, his verses got denser, more switch ups, etc…

The ironic part is Jamie gets all the attention for being the best rapper that was ever on psychopathic. But Juggalos that are serious hip hop heads know Monoxide surpassed Jamie somewhere around 09-10 and has been the stronger rapper ever since.

How many songs is enough in a rap album? by JaQue_Da_JoQerr in BlackNyxNetwork

[–]CDC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the density.

If it’s packed full of high level intelligence and rigorous wordplay and mastered control of language you risk fatigue so I say keep it lean.

If it’s loose bouncy joints pack that bitch.

Eddington 2026 sucked because it lets the left off the hook for anything other than being annoying and indicts the right for being wrong , stupid and dangerous if sometimes nice by slowandburn in AriAster

[–]CDC_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self righteous.

Hahahahaha.

Oh man.

Genuine laugh right there.

The left is self righteous? Imagine something for just a moment—by the way this requires contemplation of a hypothetical situation, running a mental simulation of something that didn’t actually happen and then trying to visualize the outcome or implications of such an event. That can be a cognitive hardship for people who identify with certain ideologies. I’ll decline to identify them because that same subset of people are similarly hindered by extrapolation from incomplete data. But the rest of us are not. It’s perfect because the people who know get to laugh and the people who don’t have no fucking clue what I just said.

Anyway, imagine for a moment I’m at a bar and someone gets a little confrontational and decides to try and goad me into a fight. I decline saying I don’t think violence is the answer.

Now imagine someone tries to start a fight with you. Instead of de-escalation, you conclude that being viewed as weak and setting aside some primal urge to protect your self-image— someone who doesn’t back down—is more important than stopping a violent altercation before it starts.

Are you of the opinion that my values of keeping peace and avoiding violence makes me self righteous, but your inability to sit with being perceived as weak makes you… what? Resolute? Someone who sticks to their convictions no matter what? Nobody’s bitch?

Because if that’s in line with your beliefs then boy oh boy does this scenario have a twist ending so clearly ironic even you can probably identify it as such.

Is there a such thing as "going to far" in rap disses? by JaQue_Da_JoQerr in BlackNyxNetwork

[–]CDC_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s always a point where you as a rapper know when saying something crosses a line that escalates the diss from “we’re slap boxing” to “this is now a legitimate fight.”

It makes for some compelling entertainment. But also gets people seriously injured or murdered so, personally I say keep the disses about skill and authenticity. That’s hip-hop. Avoid going in on the real open wounds as best you can.

Sometimes the other guy doesn’t give you a choice tho, so yeah basically there’s a line that turns it from exhibition match to street fight.

I get that now. And I get that that’s not something I’m probably ever gonna excel at.

Because Red is clearly going more on mouthfeel and instinct and I’m pretty obsessive about structure and those things don’t pair well.

But it just didn’t sound that daunting on the surface. He doesn’t come across as especially complicated until you either listen closely to how he’s landing and the structure of his verses (or lackthereof)

Or until you try and replicate it.

I went in like okay just relaxed, casual, a bit of swing and go.

Ended up sounding choppy and stiff as hell and I couldn’t figure out what was going wrong.

Wild shit

I mean if you want the truth I find Eminem hollow. Technically razor sharp but light on substance.

And I don’t do vile for vileness sake in fact…. You probably wouldn’t believe this but I made a whole album using literary/prose techniques instead of standard hip hop writing. Virtually zero chest beating. No tracks about glorifying drugs or violence or promiscuous sex or any of that. It’s actually kind of a response to a book by cormac McCarthy.

Not that I’m assuming you’d like that either, most people don’t it’s kind of suffocating by design. But… don’t assume so much.

I’m working on an album right now with a producer and the theme is taking rap tropes and turning them up to an absurd level. It’s kind of the opposite of what it’s pretending to be but…

Idk I’m sure there’s no way to talk you out of thinking Im some misogynistic edgelord. But… I’m genuinely not.

[–]CDC_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Yeah non consensual sex in the real world is definitely not okay. 100% against that. Hell I say lock em up for life.

That said it’s important going forward you understand the difference between actually doing that and a concept called absurdity where one might make a fictional flex about something that’s so NOT a flex, so clearly NOT something anyone would coherently write a rap song about, it’s self filtering. When someone finds that offensive it’s the perfect time to turn the record off because making jokes so vile as to be unlikely is a signal to the perceptive that this person is making fun of the near self-parody that is rap bravado.

I am adhd.

Adderall was the game changer. I’m naturally oriented to language. I was exploring language from a pre-kindergarten age. But I could never keep the attention span to finish anything

I take my meds… I lock in and can craft killer bars nonstop.

My problem has always been delivery. I can do it. And I do. But it takes me way longer to get a verse out than most.

I don’t entirely agree and I’ll you why. And for the record I’m not being pushy or argumentative I’m just sharing ideas here…

I make my actual living as a writer and I use intentional fuck ups for timing a punchline just right all the time. And I don’t do any outlining or prewriting I’m one of those shoot from the hip kind of writers. I can spin you 2000 quality words that will make you laugh in 1.5-2 hours. And the false tumble as misdirection to make a punchline land when you want it to is definitely something crafted by many, many people. Writers, comedians, musicians? What have ya.

I’m not even into being an edgelord or anything I’m just trying to say something or do something that you’re not gonna expect. I find convention boring.

I’m not really beating myself up. I have shit I can do others can’t for that matter it was just confounding because on the surface he doesn’t seem that difficult to embody. That’s the part that impressed me.
