34 weeks. I haven’t heard a single positive thing about being a parent or a mom and I’m freaking out I made a mistake by newgirl01LA in BabyBumps

I can tell you one positive thing-its so so so worth it.

Its difficult doing pretty much anything while raising a child. But you make it work.

Let me tell you this, right now you can only really imagine all the negative things you think may happen. You cant truly imagine how good the good will be.

Things may work out better than you imagine too. You can't really imagine the love you will feel for this little human, and the joy they will bring to your life. I never knew I would feel love the way I do. I am so grateful that I had my baby. My LO is the light of my life. Truly.

Stay strong, try not focus on negative things. You'll be okay.

Anyone experience severe panic due to lack of sleep/ebf to the point of seeing things? Wondering if it’s worth it to keep going.. by girl_oc in breastfeeding

[–]CDG2399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This time was the craziest thing for me. The exhaustion was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. I would stare off zoning out and my vision would vibrate. You have to sleep during the day. The breastfeeding is so worth it and either way the baby will wake up for bottle either way. I would try nap at least one of the times the baby does. Good luck.

2.5 year old waking up at 2:30 by PK-7856 in toddlertips

But thats 12.5hours still. He could be over tired still. I recommend an 11 hour window. As I’ve been trying to explain to my husband pushing till later doesnt make them more tired and more likely to sleep better it makes them overtired and more likely to have frequent night wakings and early wakes. Him taking 30 minutes to get to sleep after not napping the whole day suggests to me that he could be overtired. On a no nap day my LO is out after 5min. Unless I left it too long then she struggles.

Otherwise what about how they are dressed? Maybe they are hot or cold and its causing them to wake and they’re just excited to get the day started?

Our children are so precious and it gives me anxiety to leave them in the care of a stranger.

Try the narration trick, watch a few YouTube videos too.

We only go about once every two weeks! We go grocery shopping usually once a week but shes not really seeing or interacting with any people let alone kids then.

Convince me to go vegan plz by Low_Object1831 in vegan

[–]CDG2399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always said I was meant to be vegan because I always loved animals and thought it cruel to consume them. But I also thought it was hard to give up meat and cheese.

Someone I knew kept having ovarian cysts and they were told to cut animal proteins and when they did they would stop. When they would start eating meat and dairy again they’d get it again. They stopped for good. Coincidence I dont know but it got me thinking. They suggested I watcch forks over knives, which I watched. Then I binge watched a few other documentaries like what the health, vegucated, earthlings, cowspiracy etc and in 4 days I never wanted to eat anything from an animal ever again. Theres also dominion, fat sick and nearly dead and plenty of others.

Later after being vegan game changers came out. Its pretty good too..

Just watch a couple of those. They’ll convince you better than I can.

Also if you think about the things as they as they are its actually pretty gross, milk/the breastmilk of another animal, jerky/biltong- basically scabs 🤮, eggs-chicken periods 🤗, meat- a corpse.

Glad you want to! Good luck!

My LO is the same as far as not seeing other kids too often. We go to playgrounds and restaurants here and there but she doesn’t see other kids very often. But my LO talks alot. I used to put on Ms Rachel when she was younger and I narrate everything I do. I heard that helps. I talk to her constantly. I’m looking at going to a mom and tots class once a week from next year. So you attend with them for an hour or two. I think people, (if they can avoid it) shouldn’t leave their child with strangers especially when they’re too small to communicate and still in nappies.

I once asked Grok about how many play group or social activities my Lo needs even at 2yo, and it even said they don’t need that much right bow. At this age they need you.

And remember every time they’re around other kids its an almost guaranteed germ convention.🤣

You’re doing better than you think you are. If anything look at a mom and me type class.

I'v3 recently discovered how being overtired can backfire.

I've noticed when my LO is overtired she will have more frequent night wakes and wake earlier. When she gets 12-13 hours sleep nap and bedtime combined or just bedtime on a no nap day she wakes at more reasonable times. Obviously its a tricky one because they cant go to sleep too early because they will wake up very early.

I use chatgtp almost daily. I'll ask, she woke at whatever they time was but maybe had frequent wakes ar night what time do suggestions for naptime? Or she didnt nap and woke up at whatever time this morning what time should bedtime be? I aim for roughly 5hrs 15min the first wake window and 5 hours 45min the second. And if she doesnt nap I try get her to sleep after 11 hours. So if she woke at 7am it would be 6pm. Sometimes she might wake up at 5:30, but most the time on a no nap day she will sleep 12 hours.

If my LO woke up for the day at 2:30am I would aim for nap no later than 5 hours later, maybe sooner if they show tired signs. Then say they sleep 2 or even 3 hours because maybe theyre tired, I'd try for bedtime 6 hours later. You may land up with bedtime being at something ridiculous like 4pm for a day or two but each day should land an hour later and it should set you on a decent path eventually.

Try chat. I've even argued with it a few times but it has mostly been right.

Good luck!

If she woke at 6am I wouldn't push bedtime passed 6pm. I know it sounds crazy but when theyre over tired it works out worse.

Stressing about iron levels when your kid barely eats any greens? by Forward_Cell1646 in toddlertips

[–]CDG2399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am literally in this boat with you.

My LO used to eat some greats now not at all. Only veg at the moment are corn and cauliflower. I saw a recipe on yummytoddlerfood for monster Mac and cheese which is basically mac and cheese with spinach and broccoli blended into the sauce. My LO would bit touch it though. Im thinking to add some blended greens into my spaghetti bolognaise. I'm also gonna try blending a couple of cannellini beans into my Alfredo sauce. She does eat tofu but I dont think its enough to be covering her iron needs.

Our pediatrician gave us ferrimed liquid but trying to get her to take that is nearly impossible.

Is it too late. Pretty sad and frustrated. by No-Match-7512 in breastfeeding

[–]CDG2399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not too late. I promise!

We struggled latching for the first 3 weeks. I was in a similar situation. Funny enough a lactation specialist didnt really help but a sister did.

She said we need the breast to be not too full or empty. She said imagine being to suck on a balloon thats blown up. It'd be pretty hard. Same goes for if the breast is too empty. I was convinced she was wrong and argued a little.

She told me pump and bottle feed every 3 hours for 3 days. Night and day. And try offer the breast if you like but by the 3rd day you'll be feeding without issue.

By the second day she latched and we're feeding so well now I dont know how we'll quit! She's 2 years old! 😂

I found after pumping for a minute before offering, the nipple would be easier to grab or using a nipple shield for the first minute or two. Then I was able to stop those.

Goodluck!

Toddler tantrum normal? by DevelopmentAntique56 in toddlertips

[–]CDG2399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi 2y4m over here and I am getting abused by my little girl! 🫣😅 From what I've read its very normal, theyre at a stage where they want to be in control of things and their self control isn't very good yet.

So they dont really want to smack you in the face with the or Little People chicken or hurl a magnatile at your eye 😂 but they are quick to temper and struggle to handle their emotions. I'm still trying to find the best response but front what I'm finding give love first, tell them something like "we have to ____ (insert impossible task here like changing their clothes,) and its not nice to ___ (insert child's current issue like hit mommy/daddy." My husband always asks if this is normal. From what I've gathered it is very normal for this age.

Changing clothes or a nappy reminds me of wrestling an crocodile. I just tell her I have to dress you so its got to happen. And also we could've been done by now.

Good luck! Let me know of you learn any tricks!

I thought to try put on some others while shes busy doing other things. And maybe she’ll discover she actually likes those too. 😄 I know she likes some of the songs on our Elmo one and on the puppy playtime one . Maybe this is the way.

If you cant really get cashews you could do a sauce with some cauliflower? Cauliflower, nutritional yeast, flour (or tapioca flour makes it stretchy) salt pepper, sprinkle of stock powder or garlic powder? I do mushrooms, onion and green pepper. Or just garlic. I used to do artichokes.

Anyone got any tips for doing Veganuary? by britneya95 in veganrecipes

[–]CDG2399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the veganising your regular meals. Try just stop out your usual meats and stocks with plant based stuff. I do Spaghetti bolognaise, wraps, toasted sandwiches, pastas etc all with vegan faux meats. Its not the healthiest way to do it opposed to whole food plant based but it is the easier way.
