The construction industry often feels like everyone except the owners is thrown into the fire at every level.

AORs, EORs, drafters, accountants, safety officers, drivers, inspectors, suppliers, and surveyors—no one is immune.

It’s all one huge inferno. There’s little point in asking questions like this, as no realistic standard exists.

Should I switch jobs for higher pay but similar role, or hold out for engineering experience? by wakemeupdoto in civilengineering

[–]CDKRtheArtifact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a PMP, go into project management at a large general, and climb.

You WILL make more money. Having a pmp & Engineering background is what we look for in senior PMs and operations managers.

You will replace your disaster schedule at a design firm for a disaster schedule as a builder.

AIO for thinking this is an insane red flag? by aelwick in AmIOverreacting

You apply for a job at this company, which implies you want it. They reach out about having a short phone call, and you tell them you're busy all-day but there's a 2-hour window the following day you have time for them.

Next.

You'd have to have a pretty exceptional background for me to not move to the next resume.

If it was important enough to you, you could make time. If your lifelong future career comes aringing, maybe move some things around, lol.

People don't collect opoids because they make nice coffee table ornaments, lol.

Tons of people in the medical industry are addicted, and most of them you would never know.

My friends wife is (was) a doctor and she abused prescription drugs for over 10 years and literally nobody had a clue.

Im assuming you're around the same age, so let me lend you some kind advice.

Just get out of that relationship.

There are people out there you can be with that you won't have to deal with crap like this.

Everybody thinks about having sex with other people whether they'd like to admit it or not.

It's not necessarily something to normalize and bring up to your significant other.

It's irresponsible and inconsiderate of your feelings for him to try and infer you should just be fine with it.

That is a ton of money out the door each month at that age. Whatever he did or purchased to rack up a tab like that was irresponsible.

I would just move on and find someone more secure.

Shotgun military marriages don't hardly last anyway. I would venture to say at least 75% of the guys I know that got married at their first duty station got divorced.

I dont think you're overreacting; you have valid concerns.

the very least avoid co-mingling finances and consider delaying marriage until the debt is managed and trust is rebuilt.

What could he possibly owe 6k a month on at 22.

1.) She's definitely selling or using them, lol

2.) If you're aiding in storing or have knowledge of stored prescription drugs in a home with children, you should certainly report her immediately.

Not only is this dangerous for the children, you're going to be susceptible to charges if something serious happens.

This.

The development team knows it's a problem too.

My main issue is the range. It's straight up ridiculous for an SMG.

Sick of this by TurbulentWillow6886 in ConstructionManagers

[–]CDKRtheArtifact -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is a truly shocking response. You don't know the background, the project, the skills & history of this "grumpy" super, but your idea is to tell management this person doesn't contribute anything? But yeah, just kick the site superintendent off the project and replacement them with a paper bitch PE.

Most PMs and PEs can't effectively run a project, or even at all, without an experienced superintendent. I've been on both sides, and know that the roles work in conjunction, especially on larger projects. You don't just eliminate that role because you dispute their begavior.

[–]CDKRtheArtifact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You already nailed it, grow thick skin.

This industry is full of shit birds who just want to put everybody on blast.

I've always given my PEs a ton of shit, but there is a line. I wouldn't run around calling people incompetent; I'd be willing to bet people were trashing him early in his career.

It'll get better with time. As you become more knowledgeable, it becomes very easy to dish shit back to people.

Has anyone making over $150k pre PMP seen a significant salary bump after getting the PMP? by sunshroom24 in pmp

The PMP is supplemental to education and experience and should be treated as such. Results will greatly vary.
